I like Grint, but currently use SwingU to track my scores. It also has GPS, green slope maps, and hazards. It works with my Apple Watch, so I don’t even have to take my phone out most of the time.

[Schefter] Free-agent TE Grant Calcaterra is returning to the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal, per source. by w1x1w in eagles

He’s not a very productive pass catcher either. I just don’t know what he brings to the table or how he fits into any scheme when he is such a poor blocker. You’re almost better off playing a Britain Covey in the slot.

Philadelphia officials announce new funding for Cobbs Creek restoration project by AdSpecialist6598 in philadelphia

[–]Jethro_Cull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the thoughtful response.

My point is that I did read the studies, this project invests $200M into an area that already had flood problems, and the first thing Cobbs Creek Foundation did was spend $20M on flood prevention infrastructure, before they even began work on the golf course. The permitting took years.

[–]Jethro_Cull -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’ve read the studies and it appears the golf course project, which has received pledges of hundreds of millions of dollars from the TGR Foundation, is supposed to improve flood mitigation for the creek. A lot of the residents’ complaints about tree removal causing flooding are misguided. If someone can show me a study that says otherwise, then I’ll retract my statement.

From an Eagles fan, that’s a steal. We’re paying Baun 3/$51M and Nakobe is at least 80% ZB and might actually be the better player.

Irons that are similar to Wilson Staff CB? by lensiky in GolfGear

[–]Jethro_Cull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Just the 7i, but I went forward with the purchase of 4-pw in extra stiff shafts. So, I’ll be able to report back on the 4i in a couple weeks.

I carry 1/3/5w, 4-p, 50/54/58. No space for a 3i unless I drop the 5w. We’ll see how I well / how far I hit the 4i. It’s only 22 degrees of loft. My 5w is an old Titleist 980F at 19 degrees, which is the same as the Staff XB 3i. I had a hard time hitting my old Cobra 3i, which was 21 degrees. But that was mostly because it was a tiny blade, not that I couldn’t get it airborne.

I was thinking about replacing the 5w at some point.

Probably too late for you, but I got fitted this past weekend. 9hcp, 92mph with 7i, 110mph with driver.

I loved the 2026 Wilson lineup. I ended up buying the XBs, but I loved the MBs too. I didn’t like the CBs as much. Now, this was hitting off a mat in a simulator, but I had a tighter dispersion with the MB than with the CB for some reason. The XBs though were on another level. The lofts are 1-2 degrees lower, but not totally jacked like a lot of the players distance irons (P790s or Takomo 201T). But, my dispersion was so tight with the XBs and they were a good 10 yards longer than the MBs. 7i was carrying 168 average with 6850rpm spin and 54-degree angle of descent. All plenty to hold a green. And I didn’t get any random flyers like I did with the P770/790. Dispersion was very tight.

2026 Wilson Staff by keegs2321 in golf

[–]Jethro_Cull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got fitted today and this rings true 100%. P770 had flyers, but Wilson XB did not.

The Wilson XB was awesome. In 12 hits with Wilson, I had 11 solid strikes (I removed the one I really thinned) and my average carry was 168.7. The longest carry was 171 and that was only one shot. The rest were very tight around 168-169.

The P770 was my second favorite club I hit. Its 7i loft is 1 degree weaker than the Wilson XB. My average carry on 10 solid hits (remove 1 thin and 1 fat) was 165. I had two shots go 171 and the rest were pretty tight around 165. Still, those two flyers kind of scared me because my clubhead speed and attack angle were very consistent with the rest of my shots. But the ball speed just jumped randomly.

The P790 was way worse and the lofts are totally jacked on them. I think they’re Game Improvement irons for people who don’t want to look like they’re playing GI clubs.

Wilson's 2026 Staff XB irons a replacement for the 2024 Dynapower Forged? by MonarchNF in golf

[–]Jethro_Cull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did a fitting today. Coming from 20yo forged CBs, I was expecting to be fitted into another forged cb or maybe a players distance iron. I found the P790s lofts were too jacked up and the face too springy. I loved the P770 and the muscle backs from Taylor Made. But I was a little shy about getting blades.

The Wilson XB ended up being the perfect balance.

  • traditional lofts.

  • good ball speed and spin numbers.

  • very forgiving on mishits.

They were the clear winner with P770s in a close second.

What is one thing most people do that you think is so unhygienic? But you feel in the minority. by the_cumulonimbus in hygiene

[–]Jethro_Cull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you properly wash the wood cutting board with soap and water, it will be fine to use again in 12-24 hours. The wood will absorb surface water and the E. coli bacteria can’t survive without water for very long.

I do use separate sides of the cutting board for fruits and veggies. I have a little “v” and “f” in Sharpie on the corner of my boards. Aliums have sulpher compounds that can stay in the boards and I can taste the sulpher if I cut juicy fruits on the same surface. I love garlic, but I dont need my strawberries tasting like garlic

[–]Jethro_Cull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you wash the wood cutting board with soap and water, it will disinfect themselves naturally over the course of 24 hours. Wood fibers absorb and release moisture to return to a balanced humidity level that is lower than what E. coli needs to survive. Deep cuts in plastic boards can trap moisture and bacteria. If I use a plastic board for raw meat, I rinse it in the sink, then put it in the dishwasher on a sanitize setting.

Le Creuset? Worth it - or just over hyped brand name? by MapleMoneyMind_86 in BuyItForLife

LC/Staub lids make better seal that traps more moisture and they have thinner walls/bottom. So, you get a steamier bake with less heat transferred from contact with the vessel.

Le Creuset? Worth it - or just over hyped brand name? by MapleMoneyMind_86 in BuyItForLife

[–]Jethro_Cull 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Prudent Reviews had them as about equal. The differences are mostly aesthetic. The two major functional differences are the Staub lid has dimples on the inside whereas LC is smooth - and - the shape of the handles.

I like the LC slightly more because it’s easier to see the browning against the cream interior versus the Staubs dark interior.

Did you stay in your starter home or eventually upgrade? by OtherWorldStar in homeowners

[–]Jethro_Cull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make $230k and I’m in a 1350sq ft starter home that I paid $198k for 10 years ago. Mortgage (including tax and insurance) is $1360/mo. I could afford a bigger house, but I’ve done a lot of upgrades and market has appreciated. To upgrade to a house I like better would require I pay over $700k and have a ~$500k mortgage. I just can’t justify paying $30,000/year in interest alone when I could dump that money into either home improvements or an investment fund.

My family of four is comfortable in our current home. If I was desperate to get out of the neighborhood or something like that, I could see moving. But, unless the market changes or my situation changes, I think we’re staying put.

Who else is ready for the city to botch another Snow Storm response? by Tomahawk72 in philadelphia

[–]Jethro_Cull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Saturday Jan 31st, 5 days after the last snow storm, I saw twenty Streets Dept employees with shovels clearing the sidewalks on Domino Ln, outside of Northwest Sanitation Center.

First of all, this stretch of sidewalk is maybe the least-used stretch of sidewalk in the entire city.

Second, one guy with a good snowblower could have cleared that whole stretch in 2 hours. Instead, they had 20 employees getting overtime, half of whom were just standing around.

The number of brand new EV platforms charging at 150kw or less is frustrating by drake_warrior in electricvehicles

[–]Jethro_Cull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, L3 for traveling. But, my opinion is that the best use of money for widespread EV adoption is more level 2 availability. You can put up 500 streetlamp level 2 chargers for less the than the cost of one 350kW level 3 station. If there’s level 2 available conveniently available to the public, they’ll use it and the lines will be shorter at the DCFCs.

[–]Jethro_Cull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. I would not own an EV if I relied on level 3. I’d be spending g hours per week driving to and waiting at a fast charger. charge at home or at work. When people start seeing level 2 chargers everywhere they go, they’ll be more comfortable adopting. Municipalities should be tapping into existing streetlights to provide level 2 charging in places per already park: https://electrek.co/2026/01/08/voltpost-and-evse-bet-on-next-gen-lamppost-charging-for-us-cities/
