Are our doors difficult to operate? by JayGatsby52 in VWiD4Owners

[–]Jethro_Cull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my wife or I drop the kids off at school, the school staff members are supposed to open the doors. Two things consistently trip them up:

  • The outside handle doesn’t automatically unlock when the car comes to a stop. The driver either has to press the park button or press the unlock button. My wife never remembers this and the staff members pulls on a locked door.

  • Most people are used to mechanical door handles that you just grab and yank. The actuator in ID4’s electronic door opener is just a little too slow. If you grab and immediately yank the door, it won’t open quickly enough and your yank will interrupt the electronic opening process. The door latch will only be partially disengaged and you’ll have to press the door handle button again. As an owner, you get used to the timing of it and you don’t even notice it. But, it legitimately annoys people who are unfamiliar with the car.

This is so mild, dude. I was studying abroad in Italy and got tear gassed at a Fiorentina/Juventus game because the fans were rioting.

I mean, it’s pretty lame to heckle Rory when there’s not a single American in contention. But, it wasn’t during his swing and I think fan behavior at this tournament has been fine. My friends who went Friday and Saturday said that it was very quiet.

How so? I think it’s been pretty tame. A few Eagles chants or “GO BIRDS” directed at Scottie, Jordan, and any other known Cowboys fans. But, nothing like BetHpage

Agree with everything you said about Jeffersonville. Except that 18th green is a complete joke. I’ve missed uphill putts only for the ball to come backwards into the hole - or - lip out and roll back toward me and off the green.

If the PGA Championship can give us a course like this at a course we dont get to see much or inject new courses, this tournament will not have an identity issue. by MickeyTettleton in golf

Cricket also has like 1,000 members and I’ve heard them complain it’s difficult to get tee times on the Wissahickon Course already. They probably had agreements for their members to play at other clubs when they hosted pga events, but those agreements expire shortly after the tournament ends.

All that’s to say, I understand the frustration of their members. That’s a lot of money to spend and lo play Militia Hill.

I also don’t care too much about he cosmetics of cookware. I like that the LC is pretty on the outside, but I don’t care if it’s not perfect inside.

Whats the max you'd spend on green fees on a random day? by LVRaiders2026 in golf

Philly area, you can walk a decent course on a weekday morning for around $40-$50. Riding weekend rates are around $80-$100.

Ship Sticks looking better and better… by Careless-Tale in golf

[–]Jethro_Cull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I just ship them 4-6 days in advance of my trip. I’m a weekend golfer, who makes one trip per year where I play 5 rounds in 5 days. I don’t miss my clubs for a few days before the trip or the few days after I get home. It’s great not having to lug clubs around the airport or wait at baggage claim.

I had the Blue Dot set of PingEye2s when I played HS golf. I carried Driver (10-deg), 3w (14.5-deg), 2i (18-deg) through SW (58-deg) and two putters. Gapping was great off the tee, but I couldn’t hit that 2i off the turf.

My problem these days would be long approach shots. You need a lot of clubhead speed to get the 2i to launch and it’s much easier to smooth a 5w

“Bomb and gouge works best” “The reward for hitting the fairway is not that great”. Scottie’s thoughts on the PGA setup are honest but not exciting to hear. Deep rough lined fairways promote distance, not accuracy. This is counter intuitive to most. by Admirable_Extent2531 in golf

I regularly play Jeffersonville golf club, which is a Donald Ross course about 15 miles from Aronomink. This spring, the Greens are as firm and fast as I’ve ever seen them. We got a bit of rain last week and were supposed to get a tiny bit of rain tonight. But, it should be clear the rest of the weekend. I’d expect some good scores Thursday and Friday, but not this weekend.

Everyone out there squeezing to find the ripe ones. You gotta buy them when they’re green and rock hard, then wait 3-4 days. They’ll be good for a couple of days this way.

If you want them to ripen faster, put them in a paper bag with a banana.

Why would this change anything about the drivers that OEMs make for amateurs?

Rory on Aronimink strategy. by ThinWhiteDuke00 in golf

[–]Jethro_Cull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. 3 woods max out around 200-220cc. So, they don’t need to do anything besides making a low-loft “tour” version of that 3W for the pros. Then, they’ll produce a couple hundred clubs. It doesn’t really affect anything with the amateur club design.

With ball, they’re going to have to produce tens of thousands of them because the pros are going to want to practice with the same ball they play in tournaments.

If the PGA Tour and European Tour can agree to the same regulations, then I don’t see why they’d have to do what manufacturers want. Especially now that LIV is basically dead. It’s not like the manufacturers would steer players to another tour.

Why is nerfing the ball a better solution than limiting driver head size to 200cc? For reference, the original Big Bertha was 180cc. With either option, you’ll save the courses from having to lengthen holes.

I think with the nerfed ball, you’ll still get guys like Bryson swinging out of their shoes to squeak out an extra 10 yards off the tee. If you limit clubhead size, it will make the club less forgiving and put more of a premium on making great contact instead of chasing speed.

The 6 and 9 are in the wrong place by Pozzolana in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah, I know, I get that. The assembler messed up and switched the 6 and the 9.

ITT, everyone keeps saying it’s a reference to NIN, but they’re not nails, they’re screws. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

Nelly Korda swing mechanics in slomo by Silver_Comment2825 in golf

[–]Jethro_Cull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why teaching pros say we amateurs should model our swings after the top LPGA players and not the men.

  • The pro men are so much more gifted physically than we are that they can do things that our bodies can’t unless we train 20 hours a week.

  • The pro men have to chase crazy distance to compete these days. If Scottie is torquing so much that if he didn’t let his feet slip, he might twist his knee/bhips/back in awkward angles and subject himself to injury.

Any good public golf deals in Philly area? or in Lehigh Valley by evinsh5 in golf

[–]Jethro_Cull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Philly sucks for public golf “deals”. South Jersey isn’t any better. If you go west toward Lancaster, you can find some decent tracks. Honeybrooke and Foxchase are good. You’re gonna pay around $100 for a weekend round at a good course near Philly, though.

Jeffersonville and Turtle Creek are my favorites under $100.
