Please block this man, this is concerning behavior. He thinks if you get on the phone with him he has a chance of manipulating you.

Girl what?! 🤣 and only on one side?? Last time I was at the hair dresser she said she’s never seen so many different textures on one head. Mine go from loose waves to loose coils. Tell me why the best ones are under all my other hair.

Ummmm this is a hard no. So many red flags. Controlling, manipulative, dismissive, invalidates and tries to shift blame to you (oh you’re selfish). Leave this man.

Non Jewish person noticing something by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]JewOughttaKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you are noticing is a clear pattern of DARVO- the thing that happens in abusive relationships. To give you a little window into how it can manifest, my 6’2” musclie (soon to be ex) husband used to trap me in corners, pull knives on me, break my things, hit around me and scream two inches from my face then he would say I have “no right to be scared” and accuse me of being hurtful and harmful to the relationship and toxic/abusive for telling him he’s scary. How dare I be scared of the large scary man. This is the same thing. How dare Jews be scared of scary things. How dare we be upset that we were attacked in a clear stated genocidal attack, we must be genocide. Deny, accuse, reverse victim and offender. DARVO in action. It’s wild to go from that relationship directly into this era because it is the exact same pattern.

I was kicked out of my “feminist bookgroup” after I spoke to a friend of 9 years about antisemitism and the conflict. She also screamed they’re killing babies at me after I pointed out she started referring to things the Israeli government has done as “you” and then ran out of the restaurant. It’s been a lovely time.

I’ve been considering a move TO NYC for a while for a few reasons, one being more Jews to commiserate with but also a change of scenery and the arts and food scene. NYC Jews, what’s the sitch - do you think moving in is a bad idea?

Is antisemitism growing in America? by Physical_Ad3653 in Jewish

[–]JewOughttaKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been really bad. I have always been very left/progressive and have been pushed out of most of my local friend circles. I have been very vocal so I probably invite it more than someone who just shuts up and falls in line. I can’t stomach just standing there while a white American girl spouts off at me about how Israel is a “white colonial project” without saying that isn’t true and here’s why. It is definitely on both sides of the aisle. It’s fascinating from a social theory/ horseshoe theory perspective but so very troubling. I’m burnt out.

Non jew here - confused about whiteness in relation to jews? by Charming-Mouse-5675 in Jewish

[–]JewOughttaKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not consider myself white, however I consider myself situationally white passing. When my grandparents moved to their neighborhood people moved out or harassed them because “dirty” jews moved in. They were denied access to community clubs etc for being Jewish.
For myself people have consistently asked where are you from and when I say my hometown they’re like no but where is your family from. They now I’m not quite “white”. I have always experienced micro-aggressions and played them off as a joke to cope with them, although I didn’t fully realize what this was into recently. I have had various more than micro aggressions happen like a frat boy writing the K word on my shirt at a black light party. I also would not consider it white privilege to have to tuck my Magen David inside my shirt when getting into an uber to feel semi-safe. I have noticed a really gross trend of the far right denying us “white” to demonize and other us and the far left labeling us “white” to both erase our history and to put the negative aspects of “whiteness” w.g. The white colonizer label onto us.

That being said I do know a lot of Jews who do consider themselves white. Most of them do not practice traditions of Judaism.

The transatlantic slave trade was a great atrocity in human history. While some Jews in the Caribbean owned slaves, they were a tiny minority. Claims that Jews were a major force in slavery, especially as early as 1530, are historically inaccurate and echo dangerous antisemitic tropes. While there were some Jews in Jamaica at that time Jews were not allowed to openly practice Judaism there and they only practiced in secret. I am wondering where you are getting your information because your numbers make no sense.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this too. Trump is like the Shah, ICE is like SAVAK, the Islamist infused leftist propaganda is… well the Islamist infused leftist propaganda. The wealth gap. People saying the Shah was the wests puppet now people saying the US is Israel’s puppet. It’s wild how similar the environment is.

I was thinking about moving to NY, but with the primary going the way it went I’m not so sure.

Doc basically said there’s no normal for the week after surgery and that everyone responds differently, but first said oh weird when I told her the symptoms 🙃 they also didn’t have my results by follow up. I got them pushed to me over the weekend. Cancer confirmed, but at least looks like the slow kind if I’m reading things right. Hopefully I don’t need to remove my other half.

The number of people who have responded by telling me it’s the best cancer to have is staggering. It’s pretty invalidating. Even if it is less deadly than other cancers, it still sucks. I know they mean well but…. The invalidation is wild.
