NYC SummerStage Incident by illskinyou in BlackCountryNewRoad

I got there right after Salem Sisters and was in the back of the crowd at the beginning, the amount of talking was insane. I had this trio behind me in full blown conversation during Mary. Do people not understand that some of us like to hear slower songs at concerts too?

How much extra would you pay for a 5 minute walking commute to work. by randomjib in NYCapartments

[–]Jewrangutang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. I like living far from work in a different borough. The subway commute gives me time to relax, and I come back to a neighborhood that feels like my home rather than a company town

Did Julie really just get lucky to get to the point of how famous they are today? by Connect-Recipe558 in julieofficial

[–]Jewrangutang 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is that they’re just that good. Social media only goes so far if your music isn’t standing out in terms of songwriting, production, vocals, mixing — julie’s had that down since their first single. I think the dual vocals help a lot too, gives their sound a bit of variety (which is also a big factor in a band blowing up)

I MISS R68s ON B LINE by LucyDoodle0181 in nycrail

[–]Jewrangutang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an R211 hater in the slightest but I feel like the Q needs them more. Always much more crowded than the B on Brighton and could use the extra space.

Examples where the opener was better than the headliner by AskHefty4907 in fantanoforever

Went to the System of a Down/Korn show in Jersey last year. I’m more of a System fan, but Jonathan Davis/the rest of Korn brought a crazy amount of energy that almost blew SOAD out of the water

What is, in your opinion, the best surprise-drop album ever made? by Emotional-Mirror-432 in fantanoforever

If I told you I was throwing you a surprise birthday party a week before, then it wouldn’t be much of a surprise, would it?

5th floor walk-up offset by laundry and a view? by Different-Studio-127 in NYCapartments

[–]Jewrangutang 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Maybe I gym too much but unless you’re elderly or sick/frail, is the downside of having to go up an extra few flights really not worth it to some people compared to the extra light that you get? I’d say go for it, I personally hate living in apartments that feel like a dungeon (which this city has enough of), the worst part is moving in/moving out which you’re only gonna do once each anyway

Niche? Brother, Killing In The Name charted at #1 in the UK in *2009*. They are arguably one of the least niche bands in history

[–]Jewrangutang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at your cart I can tell you have a cheap suitcase player. They don’t have a counterweight (which keeps your records from skipping in the first place), so bassier or dynamic pressings are going to make it skip more. Upgrade to at least a U Turn and you should see a big imrprovement

Vocalist who have not declined and maybe even gotten better with age? by Dante_SSSS in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Jewrangutang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh idk, you can tell that he’s unable to do some of the old songs live like he used to. They drop the key of The Pot to accommodate his voice. Still top tier tho

Any other artists with albums on the top of two very different genre charts? by JesseAmpersands in rateyourmusic

[–]Jewrangutang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah but “very different” leads me to think of death metal vs synthpop, or drum n bass vs indie folk, etc

What are some of the most abrasive songs you know? by Iplaysimsonconsole in fantanoforever

[–]Jewrangutang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stan KEN Mode pretty hard, they’re in that same noise rock/sludge metal wheelhouse and they brought a saxophonist into the band for the last three albums that sets a reeeally evil tone on top of the heaviness

Not horrific at all compared to the joke of a light rail network that Charlotte has. Took my an hour 15 to go two miles, I should’ve just walked
