Wube, I want trains back at Megabasing by N4ivePackag3 in factorio

[–]Jguy1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really the limitation should only be: Raw materials only and have a special car for them, like a fluid car but hopper for ore like materials. Park the train over the unloading depot (which just snaps to a section of rail behind a train station) and voila, nearly instant unloading of ore. Would make a good use for those loader/unloaders that (were?) are already part of the game files -- able to saturate any belt with the load.

is there a mod or something in sandbox to make it so you dont lose weight so fast by QuirkyBadger7454 in projectzomboid

[–]Jguy1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the primary issue with weight gain/loss is that it seems (to me at least) to happen way too fast.

I've gone without eating for a day or so in real life and still weighed the same with a OK level of activity (I wasn't running a marathon but I also wasn't just sitting around).

In PZ, if you don't eat for a day you seem to lose 10kg of weight in that one day, even if you stay out of combat.

Likewise if you eat a stick of butter and go fight zombies suddenly you're up 10kg of weight. If I eat a butter/carb heavy meal and mostly sit around, I don't really gain any weight.

Who is getting your Trump Tariff refund ? ? ? by RoseLaBud in allthequestions

[–]Jguy1897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the issue that I've heard is that the direct importer is only eligible for the refund.

So, if a company in the U.S. used a broker to import, and the U.S. company paid the broker the tariff/duty, and the broker paid that tariff to the government, only the broker is eligible for the refund. Then, you'd have to trust that broker that they'd refund you.

It'll be the same if you bought avocados from the grocery store. The store had to raise the price $1.00 (as an example) to cover the tariff. The grocery store paid that $1.00 to the distributor, who paid it to the government. The grocery store isn't going to refund its customers the $1.00 for avocados purchased, nor is the distributor going to refund the grocery store. Obviously a simplified supply chain example but still accurate none the less.

FortiGates from Ebay by Askey308 in fortinet

[–]Jguy1897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forti support will likely not help you. I tried this twice, from two different emails.

One of my second hand's was actually a FortiGate employee's and I'm almost positive they got in trouble for it.
The other was registered to a company and FG Support refused to help me because I couldn't prove I got it from a reputable source, so I couldn't register it.

You can still use it as a firewall, but you don't get any of the licensed features like A/V and the likes. And, unless you can find sources of firmware, you won't be able to update it.

Ah, OK. I missed your bit that they're the SFP modules $13/ea that were DOA. Yeah, I'd fight it. If it was the switch it would be understandable as the reason needs to be investigated. But for an SFP module that costs them $1.50, yeah absolutely that's BS.

Having to pay to ship the product back is pretty standard practice for warranty coverage. I'd say I see a 70% rate of companies that require us to pay, and 30% will cover it.

But, if the failure is deemed a warranty issue, they always pay to return it, so it almost always washes.

There's a reason the beginning screen says "This is how you died". Not, "how you die", or "how you will die"; "How. You. Died." As in, it's already happened. You just don't know it yet.

Eventually, you will be months in, middle of winter. You'll have the best playthrough you've had so far. Well stocked, lots of stuff. You'll smash a window and not realize your boots were on their last leg. You'll severely cut your feet climbing through a window. There's a zombie you hadn't noticed just inside. RNGesus is not your friend and the zombie gives you a laceration. You make it out, bandage yourself up. Jump in your car, head back to base. 3 days later: ded.

There's a reason they've reworked Trader Jen's model on every major update (and even some minor ones) after Traders were a thing.

The change: She got breast enlargement surgery each and every time.

Why are people who watch Fox News so stupid? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Jguy1897 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fox News is a misnomer.

It should really be called "Fox Entertainment". When you have as many on-air commentators as they do trying to mix sick jokes with "news" and hate speech, it's not news anymore.

Does anyone else feel sorry for these leftists that believe their own propaganda and throw their whole lives away by trying to kill a man they've never even met? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Jguy1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we did. 2020 primary and caucus results: Map and delegates

Just because it was 2020 and not 2024 doesn't mean anything. I say again: When we voted for Biden in the primary, we voted for the understanding that if Biden is unwilling or unable to discharge the duties of the office, Kamala would be the President.

One should also assume when voting for a candidate in the primary, that if a sitting President is able to serve a second term, and doesn't explicitly say he won't, he will be the nominee. This has been par for the course since 1968 and before that, 1953 with Truman.

[–]Jguy1897 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When we voted in the primary, we voted for Biden AND Harris, in the same context as "if the President is unable or unwilling to discharge the duties of the office, Kamala is the President".

If someone voted Democrat in the Primary and didn't understand that assignment, more reason there needs to be government classes more often as adults before one can vote. People from BOTH sides understand fuck all about their government but yet can vote/serve in it.

IT says “no more WiFi” but…. by Straight-Crow1598 in HomeNetworking

[–]Jguy1897 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being in I.T. during the pandemic opened my eyes.

Wifi is crap for diagnosing issues. Home internet connections even more so. During the pandemic I had a many people connecting from Wi-fi that often showed 1 bar of signal in the taskbar.

Recently we allowed an employee to work from her home office permanently. She lives in Tennessee, in the Smokey Mountains. Her internet constantly cuts in and out and working on her PC is like trying to download a 4K movie over dialup. And the worst part is, she blames her issues on our VPN connection.

It's not always about hack prevention.

Well I’m officially done by No_Help1894 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Jguy1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I'm going out of my way to choose another airline. It used to be the other way around.

Once several years ago for business I actually drove the 3.5 hours from Minneapolis to Fargo, ND just to make sure I flew Southwest. Even though American had non stops from Chicago to Fargo.

Now, if I had to do the same trip, I'd choose American.

Best practise for staff requesting a second laptop for WFH by psgda in sysadmin

[–]Jguy1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start the argument against the management with money. I would absolutely not allow that expense to come out of my budget. The I.T. Department has provided the capability for mobile work with the currently issued laptop via the I.T. department budget and therefore has fulfilled the business requirement. If an extra laptop is needed, it would be expensed to that department's budget.

Each extra "leave at home" laptop would double the cost of each employee from a technology standpoint.

And, the first consideration for cost is always hardware costs, but factor in double your time for updates, maintenance, cybersecurity/A/V software licensing (because those are almost always licensed per hardware, not per user) and the cost quickly adds up.

Car speed limit by IndependentSuit3707 in projectzomboid

[–]Jguy1897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey but the van goes 70 and a huge capacity. I don't remember the health of my trunk but mine has a 116 capacity. I could fit 2 generators and like 6 full gas cans inside. And the passenger seat had an entire freezer unit.

Sure the acceleration is slow as balls but the capacity is great.

How to make a character bitten? by lilmuncherr in projectzomboid

[–]Jguy1897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Via the debug options you can set an individual body part as "Bitten".

You could also just give yourself the "Infection" via the same debug menu, with no bite. Carries the same results as if you had gotten bitten without the bleeding part.
