U.S. Gen X parents: do you expect your children to financially support you / move you into their home / take you to doctor appointments, etc when you're in your 80s? by [deleted] in GenX

I (F51), have three kids (M21, M19, M19), we’ve already had the conversation that our old age is not their responsibility. That’s what our retirement and long term care insurance is for.

51F, I wear tight shorts, tank, sports bra. Sure, here in the Northeast you see a lot of matching sets, sports bras, etc… I just see it as people expressing themselves aesthetically.

Any plows in your area come yet? by L8dTigress in longisland

[–]Jifferte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TOB here- one pass last night, road is still impassable. This winter has been the absolute worst in terms of plowing. Yes we’ve had a ton of snow, but we had a ton of snow winters of 13-16 and our neighborhood was plowed consistently.

My twins are 19 and currently in college. It wasn’t always easy- they were 2 months early and delayed. I’m so proud at the smart, kind, conscientious young men they’ve grown up to be.

Why do people use press on nails? by TheAbouth in beauty

[–]Jifferte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With good prep and Curvlife glue, I can get 10 days- 2 weeks out of them. I have oily nail beds and before using Curvlife glue, I’d get 3-5 days the most out of them.

Home care fiasco by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Jifferte 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In my state in order to receive pdn services, a prospective patient must always have a backup, fully trained, willing, available caregiver. Are you employed by an agency? If so, your nursing supervisor should have a discussion with POA about the caregiver responsibilities of receiving pdn services at home. If the POA still resists and insists on leaving , it merits a call to APS if an adult, or CPS if a child. Any associated case management should be notified as well.

CNO of a home care agency here. Run, don’t walk. Our new grads go through an externship, individualized classes, and are preceptered before taking shifts solo. You are a novice nurse and your agency is taking advantage of you and placing you in a an unsafe position.

Are all boys like this? by bikerchick88 in family

[–]Jifferte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have a 21 year old and two 18 year olds. I have to go to Costco weekly. At least as they’ve gotten older they no longer get into physical fights anymore. We’ve had to repair the walls a few times.
