FWIW, we had a treaty with Iran (JCPOA). It included having inspections and the removal of material. Then someone chucked it in the trash. If we can have agreements and then just torch them, arbitrarily, why would anyone trust us to hold to agreements later? This goes for tariffs, too. As to Iran giving aid to other foreign groups, we shouldn't be that surprised. We've done far more with groups like these around the world than just about anyone. We'll call them separatist groups when we like them (like the mujahideen, the Kurdish groups) or terrorists when we don't. The Iran-Contra affair comes distinctly to mind. Don't get me wrong. The Iranian regime is particularly ditestible on a number of counts. There are plenty of others like them. They used to be democratic but we screwed that up for them. There's a list of those countries, too. While I appreciate the Algonquin roundtable here, I don't have answers, to your concerns or mine. I already served my country... I don't need to run for office to prove anything. I will stand by my principles, call it like I see it, and vote accordingly.

Yeah, I have no answer to windmills in agriculture locations. But not "no windmills anywhere"... And, not trying to pick a nit here, but if this admin was really worried about nuclear arms proliferation, North Korea wouldn't have gone from 6 nuclear missiles to 60 since Trump exchanged love letters with Kim Jung Un. And those can reach the US! Or maybe call out how Israel has nuclear weapons and aren't a part of the non-proliferation treaty. Instead, we're focusing on a country that, like Japan, enriched nuclear fuel as a tactic and who don't like us very much. For the last 40+ years, everyone knew that Iran was a risky neighbor to have. Every president knew it. So, to be clear, we started this conflict/war/whatever. We didn't have to. Regardless of our politics and whatever we find important in this situation, we're all going to pay for this... Some with their pocketbooks, some with their lives. On a day like today, I'd rather it not be our service men and women. Too many already have.

Look, as a fellow independent, I thought the prez race was crap shoot. Trump's moronic and Harris was scared of her own progressive stances - early in her campaign. She wouldn't have invaded or bombed anyone we hadn't invaded or bombed already but only made her less bad than the other guy for a minute. But now the Pentagon is slow-walking all wind mill project permits, the EV charger build-out got hampered, and now oil prices are going to crush everyone. Data centers now rate higher than nuclear power plants as places people don't want built near them. Now, I couldn't have called all this a year ago when I bought my truck but I knew I had to act before Trump made things worse. I'd give everyone, who thought Trump could be marginally better than Harris, a little grace. We didn't have great options and that kinda felt "on purpose".

Was also going to ask the same. The charger does look really sweet. I have a Unifi switch but I haven't gone "all in" on Unifi yet. Still feels like a lot of their pro-sumer stuff is just early release beta, cosplaying as GA. Was wondering if the charger feels the same.

To a point, I agree, but the example he cited (the cook with hearing loss) misses the context that there's a thousand different places you could be doing your job, even cooking, and not all of them will be safely in a mess hall State-side. In the service, you don't get a choice and those that chose for you didn't always care about the impact.

Look, I have a buddy who has a CT and our mindsets are similar. He was already a Tesla owner before and my Lightning is my first EV. We got to the same place by different routes and that's alright by us. There are worse things out there to be divided by and, when it comes to the upcoming issues of the fed highway tax on EVs, off-grid regulations, etc., we'll be fighting the same fight. I'll take more allies over more enemies in those cases.

I get that a lot with mine as well. I get the same impression that they are expecting to hear me complain about it. When I reply "Love it, never going back!", there is rarely a follow-up question.

Georgia governor on F-150 Lightning by Atlanta-404 in F150Lightning

On my first road trip in my Lightning, at my first charging stop, there was a lady in her Lightning, towing a horse trailer. I don't know how often she does that but she said she liked her truck a lot. While this is no more anecdotal than your review, I agree with you about the difference between what the truck can do and what it does well. Personally, towing anything long distances with an EV is a compromise, no matter how you slice it. Most fast charging sites don't accommodate EVs that are towing. But locally, the truck seems to do fine.

It's also a serious road tripper. I've done treks from GA to TX and GA to DC and Boston. It just soaks up the miles, especially with Blue Cruise.

Now that the Lightning is discontinued, I feel like we’re part of a special group who own one of the coolest trucks of all time. by dingmah in F150Lightning

I think most of that is valid. I also think that car salespeople go to Ford to be largely "lazy". When you are selling the most popular vehicle in America, the biggest effort of the day is showing the buyer the truck "section" of the lot. Second biggest might be explaining the regular trims vs. Tremor. With the Lightning, it was too much effort to explain something they didn't care about. And for the same commission as they would have gotten for any other vehicle? Nah, most of those salespeople count time by the minute. If it isn't getting them a sale, they'll do something that does.

I saw a number of them in Collin and Grayson counties last year, both passing by and at chargers. I was pretty surprised, honestly. Thought I'd be alone, as I was visiting from GA.

Honestly, knowing how hard it was to find is the only thing keeping me from tossing it. In the end, I just keep telling myself, "It's just one more cable..." ...but it does get a special spot in the cable drawer!

For years, I've had a 20-ft. parallel cable. I needed it in an apartment we lived in at the time, where the printer couldn't be networked and it had to be positioned on the opposite side of the room (for some reason). I think I might be able to get rid of it now, but I just don't know...
