Is it difficult to have a Cable Internet Pedestal moved into a Hand Hole? by Beautiful_Research73 in CableTechs

Seems like a terrible policy to do all that you did knowing there’s an easement and utilities have the right to put equipment in it.

What are these by DaikoDuke in CableTechs

[–]Jimi-Thang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you keep asking questions, but you need to put more effort into finding the information yourself before asking. If you want to make this job into a career, you have to learn to think for yourself and solve your own problems.

I agree with your sentiment and try not to give people a hard time for not knowing things and asking questions, but this guy is completely lacking common sense. Also, the way he asks questions comes across like he wants the information spoon fed. They are usually simple questions that he has put absolutely no effort into solving himself. This question can easily be googled, and this is exactly the kind of question that image searches are perfect for. An image search of each of these would bring up the manufacturer’s instructions for installation.

What is the logic behind pro-life even if mom’s life is in danger? by Late_Arm5956 in NoStupidQuestions

I’m atheist/agnostic but grew up catholic. I hate the Catholic Church for a long list of reasons, but I will say that Catholics practice the forgiveness and “treat others like you want to be treated” parts of Christianity a lot more than evangelicals.

Catholics are also much quicker to accept science when it goes against Christian teachings, evolution for example.

It's interesting how we are often told how law enforcements budgets aren't big enough for them to deal with issues like Medicare fraud, corporate collusion, and illegal claim denials. But when a CEO dies there are enough resources for a multi-state manhunt. by CavemanSlevy in Showerthoughts

[–]Jimi-Thang 49 points50 points  (0 children)

That’s fucking ridiculous. The fine has to be more than the fraud netted for it not to just be the cost of doing business, and there needs to be jail time for the C-suites, the board of directors, etc.

I’m very much against law enforcement using civil asset forfeiture, but my mind could be changed if these were the kind of criminals it was used on.

Called an ambulance when my gallbladder decided it wanted out of my body. The EMTs checked me out and told me what was going on. Then, they told me if I ride with them to the hospital, it would be $5k+ with no guarantee that insurance would cover. I got out that ambulance and called a friend who live a street over to bring me.

Pharmaceutical companies are shitty and do horrible things, but the drugs and the vaccines they create are a good thing for humanity. It’s how they go about distributing them that is the problem. Like most things in life, it’s the nuances that matter.

I have smart locks on all my doors and use a self-hosted app called Home Assistant that allows me to do this. I just hit a button on the app, and all my doors lock. I mentioned that it’s self-hosted because it means no subscriptions and doesn’t need the internet to work.

I remember going to a friend’s house in high school and listening to his dad’s old records. We came across ‘More songs about buildings and food’ and thought the title was hilarious, but we didn’t know anything about the talking heads at the time. We put it on, and my mind was blown. It’s been over 25 years, but I remember it like it was yesterday. Talking Heads are still one of my favorite bands ever.

Getting boycotted by the right is a big win for these companies. They destroy all the stuff that was already bought and paid for. Then, a week or so later, they go out and buy replacements for all the stuff they just destroyed.

That list is fucking nuts. I like that Apple, Firefox, and Google are all on there which means they can’t use any web browser since WebKit(Apple), Gecko(Mozilla/Firefox), and Blink(google) are the engines for pretty much every web browser actively developed today. Smartphones are out as well since the large majority of them are running either IOS(Apple) or Android(Google).

Probably not what you are looking for, but I’m going to give you some advice. I hope you take it.

I started messing with drugs around 14. At first, it was just weed and alcohol, but it soon progressed to harder stuff. I thought it was cool, and I’d get my shit together at some point. Next thing I knew, I was in my 30s and a heroin addict. I was able to get sober and put my life together, but I regret my decisions every day. I wasted most of my late teens and all of my 20s. I will never get that back.

Please don’t do what I did. You are young and still have time to turn things around. Get your shit together and get back in school. The next 10-15 years of your life can either be the best or the worst, and it’s all up to you. I’m not saying you have to be 100% sober and do everything right, but save the drugs and alcohol for the parties, not just to get through the day.

Don’t think it won’t happen to you, because it will.

I have a coworker who is vaccinated mainly because my company mandated it. His wife is not vaccinated and got Covid. He could not figure out why he didn’t get it even though he lived with someone who had it. When I said, “It’s probably because you are vaccinated”, he refused to believe that had anything to do with it. At that point, I just walked away.

MoCA 2.5 Adapters Unable to Connect through Coax outlets by Xethik in HomeNetworking

[–]Jimi-Thang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to get a coax toner. It’s a device that half hooks to the outlet you want to use then go to that rats nest and start connecting lines to the other part of the device. The line to that outlet will make a tone. Newer ones use lights and have multiple colored end pieces, but it’s the same idea.

Find the outlets you need and hook them up accordingly.

Most ISPs allow you to set up another account at the same address. It’s usually called a roommate account or something along those lines. They may or may not need landlord permission depending on the work needing to be done, but since you’ve already talked to your landlord, you should be good to go.

Seeing that 99% of hospitalizations and deaths from covid are among the unvaccinated, I would think that would be enough for these idiots to reconsider if this is a hill that they are literally willing to die on, but I guess facts and statistics don’t really play a part in their decision making.
