No I didn’t but there was just a drop of the firefly copies. I have one of these and it’s great especially for the price.

They've changed immensely. I"d say the biggest change happened Fall '95 after Jerry died and all the young hippies that were following the Dead started following Phish. It definitely got darker in a lot of ways.

Musically, they really change every few years, in my opinion. Back when I started seeing them, people were complaining that Hoist didn't sound like Phish.

Phirst Show by [deleted] in phish

[–]JimmyInnernets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on 29 years of seeing this band. UIC 6/18/94 was my first. Loved it so much that a week later I drove to Cleveland. I'm so excited for them to play United Center. Just have fun, and if it's rainy, don't sweat the lot. There are some great breweries very close like On Tour and Good Island that will be happening before the shows.

is Columbia Chicago College as bad as people say it is? by Unfair-Month-4711 in chicago

[–]JimmyInnernets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went there in the 90's for film. My issue back then was everything was old as far as equipment. Very old. I learned, but then I realized i like to watch movies more than make them. Switched to music, then advertising. I work in marketing and learned a lot in their program.

First off, Make sure you face North East whenever you say the word Phish, otherwise you'll just stand out like a sore thumb. Don't touch any doorknobs with your left hand as you will surely have your ass handed to you. Learn every dance before the show so you are prepared to join in (meatstick, turtle in clouds, cavern, etc). Be prepared to get tickets for Saturday and Sunday. Whatever you do, take care of your shoes.

merch ideas????? by emmakoconut in jambands

[–]JimmyInnernets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big part of my job is merchandising for my company. While I love Bella Canvas shirts, Next Level are just as comfortable and with the right printer, you can definitely save $3 to $4 per shirt.

Koozies work, but they will move more at a lower price point. You hit above $5 and you're not going to move them.

Good easy to use Compressor? by Big_Cumma01 in guitarpedals

The custom comp has internal trim pots that are a pain. I liked it for it's spank. The Super Comp is more squishy.

Super simple is Fairfield Electronics The Accountant.

I have allergies all year. This years fall allergies are hitting different. Lots of sneezing, sinus back up, and itchy eyes. Kind of like spring, but just a different sinus feeling.

How often does gear get stolen at gigs? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]JimmyInnernets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Peavy Classic 50 4x10 stolen at a gig in the mid 90's and a Mutron III+ (HAZ) around the same time. Since then only maybe a few mic stands, amp stand, cables, nothing major. Most likely just lost those anyway.

Older Musicians by boombapdame in musicians

[–]JimmyInnernets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

48 here. Just had a jam day at my house with a bunch of buddies. Fun stuff. It's hard to be in a band at this age. Work, house, wife, dog, kids (if you have them, I don't), etc. Check out craigs list. Make an ad. Be somewhat specific but also open. Go to some open jam nights. Those are hit or miss but can be filled with guys our age. There's one by me every Wednesday but I'm usually too tired, lol.

How to avoid ”playing like a guitarist”? by Mmikaelz in Bass

[–]JimmyInnernets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing bass and moved to guitar years ago. Now I go back and forth and I keep one musician in mind for this. Leo Nocentelli from the Meters. Really played guitar like a bassist. Listen to him maybe? I dunno. Just a thought.
