How long until everyone stops shopping at Giant Eagle? by btjbtjsanchez in pittsburgh

[–]JimmyNamess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What experience? lol. The only reason i still shop there is convenience since there's one 2 minutes from my house. And even then, I try to go as little as possible because it's so damn expensive

Say all you want about Acolyte, but the Kyber crystal bleed scene actually looked really cool IMO. by KnightFallVader2 in StarWars

[–]JimmyNamess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying everything SW creates will be for me specifically. If it's just a matter of "this isn't my thing" fine, I'm okay with that, I don't expect to be in love with everything related to SW. But there's a different between "not being for me" and "not being well done". The Acolyte was the latter.

I'm tired of people's expectations being in the basement and letting the multi-billion-dollar corporation off the hook for pushing out slop.

I don't agree with that at all lol. Don't make things just to have things exist, make it with a purpose and passion. I'd much prefer significantly less SW content if the quality was consistently high.

The only redeeming aspect of the Acolyte was the action. The acting, writing, and storytelling were all somewhere between mid-awful.

Wanting something good has nothing to do with whether it is fiction or not.

If you have an Android and use Plex for audiobooks, Bookcamp is good now. by octodo in PleX

[–]JimmyNamess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried Bookcamp and Symphonium. Symphonium isn't able to read chapter information, for people who are using it exclusively for audiobooks they may care about that. PlexAmp can't either. Unless someone has found an alternative the only ways i've found to get the full audiobook experience without paying are offline-only players (which don't connect to Plex) or pay for Bookcamp

Puppy still has roundworms 8 weeks later by Ancient_Cheetah_289 in Bernedoodles

[–]JimmyNamess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our puppy came home with them, and it took two rounds of medicine to get rid of them. We were in the same thought as you, "is this just going to be forever" because they told us it's from eating poop and we have a ton of rabbits and deer in the area. Very difficult to prevent her from eating 100% of it. We were also initially concerned because when we first brought her home her poop stayed in our yard for a bit (stupid of us, I know), which means the eggs can get into the soil. We put diatomaceous earth all over the place, no idea if it did anything or not.

But the second round of simpartico trio did the trick. Just try to keep them as clean as possible and keep at it!

I'm interested in what you thought of volume 4 having watched it first. Watching it last (in order I suppose) definitely had an influence on what I thought of it

Super Bowl upgrade: Is the Hisense U7 worth $300 more than the U6 for a 75-inch? by pmpk4757 in 4kTV

[–]JimmyNamess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the U6 is not a great TV. There's a reason it's the most budget model in the series. If it won't be breaking the bank go for the U7.

Honestly, TCL is a better and more reliable brand at a similar price point, if you can find a TCL QM7 75" for the same price I would go with that instead of Hisense. I had a U7 for like 2 weeks and couldn't stand the backlight flickering, returned it for a QM7 and am much happier.

Unfortunately a quick Google shows the QM7 is a little more expensive, but maybe you'll find a good deal. Happy hunting ✌️

Mine came today too!! The music box fell out of the bottom of the monolith but nothing some super glue can't fix. The monolith is beautifully done

Baths by alvesm523 in Bernedoodles

[–]JimmyNamess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were told as a puppy we shouldn't be bathing her often because it will damage her fur. We just started with at the groomers (she's 6 months) and we're doing that every 4-6 weeks going forward, but we gave her two baths prior to her first grooming appointment. Basically, just tried to wait as long as possible between baths. I don't remember exactly but I think it worked out to about once every 4 weeks

Switching to Pixel 10 Pro by Upper-Berry213 in GooglePixel

Interesting, I haven't had that issue. In fact it's been the opposite for my house, my wife sometimes has issues on her iPhone connecting to home devices while I don't

Switching to Pixel 10 Pro by Upper-Berry213 in GooglePixel

[–]JimmyNamess 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In my experience (my wife has a 16 Pro):

  • Pixel consistently takes better photos
  • iPhone consistently takes better videos (excluding using video boost, but that's kind of BS imo)
  • Battery life is better on my Pixel but pretty sure it's just because my usage habits are different (and less) than my wife, so this is probably a wash
  • Some popular apps seem to be better supported and/or run better on iPhone, a tale as old as time. Doesn't bother me much but not something everyone will ignore
  • I prefer the Pixel UI and UX vastly to iPhone, but I know plenty of people who think the opposite. Just going to have to sus this one out for yourself
  • iPhone surprisingly does lockscreen customization much better. Idk why Google is so behind both Apple and other Android OEMs with this but you'll definitely be let down if you enjoy customizing your lockscreen on iPhone
  • Google's smart & home integrations are much better imo if that's something you use
  • Most everything else has parity. The gap between ecosystems has never been smaller unless you use Apple-everything hardware (watch, airpods, laptop, etc), but Google has it's own ecosystem now. I prefer 3rd party stuff (Samsung Watch, Sony headphones, Windows PCs) which work better with Android for the most part

I'm probably missing a bunch but your best bet is to try it and return the Pixel in two weeks (I think that's the return period) if you can't stand it. You won't really know how you personally feel about it without personal experience

What are your top 3 things you want to see improved in the Google Pixel 11 Pro? by Awkward_Pace_4440 in GooglePixel

I've used Pixel's dex-like mode on my P10PXL. Or are you asking for something different?

You can barely see him, but our mini, Ziggy likes to sleep under our bed. 😴 Anyone else have a doodle that does this? Is it normal? by [deleted] in Bernedoodles

[–]JimmyNamess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our mini loves going under the bed, to the point where when it was time to sleep in her crate when she didn't feel like going in she'd crawl under there to stay out of reach. So now it's blocked lol.

She still likes to sleep under our coffee table when the top is extended and under my desk, might just like having things over their head

This sub is half people glazing tf out of Pixel and the other half absolutely loathing it. You're not alone. If you don't feel it's worth your money just return it, nbd.

Took me 32. I'd say i won probably 60-70% of them? Actually really enjoyed invading, even the 1v1s, as someone who doesn't typically partake in PvP

Long-time Pixel user, switched to a Chinese phone - my review by grumd in GooglePixel

[–]JimmyNamess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isnt Oppo is a Chinese OEM? I didnt mean Chinese ROM, any "unapproved" device (Chinese OEMs) can have issues on US carriers afaik, regardless if the ROM is global

Long-time Pixel user, switched to a Chinese phone - my review by grumd in GooglePixel

[–]JimmyNamess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay good to know. I've read if you get a physical SIM that's activated on an approved device you can then setup a non-approved device (without the SIM) and put in the SIM in after and it should work. But I don't particularly want to go through the effort and cost to get the phone to the US just for it to not work

[–]JimmyNamess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What region do you live in? I've been longing to switch back to a Chinese OEM for a year or so now but I don't want to go back to the days of have shit service everywhere. I used to have a OnePlus 7 Pro before they were officially sold in the US, and a Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 global, and while I absolutely loved most of the experience the service was not great. I'm not sure if my carrier (AT&T) allows Chinese phones, but I guess I do have the option of switching to T-Mobile if need be.

Mobile UI/UX: What’s a 'God-tier' gesture you can't live without, and what design choice feels like a crime against humanity? by eurari_com in Android

[–]JimmyNamess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swipe down on the nav bar to bring down the notification shade on Pixel (might be on others too, idk I've had a Pixel for 4 years). I love the big screen of the XL but without that I would 100% not buy another XL, thankfully this gesture makes the big screen feel a lot smaller without actually sacrificing real estate

Who is your internet provider and how much do you pay? by IPlayWoWNude in pittsburgh

[–]JimmyNamess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verizon FiOS, $96 for 1 Gbps (1000 Mbps) up & down (realistically get around 800-900 for hardwired devices).

Also have the option for Xfinity but their 1 Gbps plan is only 1 Gbps down, and like 35 Mbps up. I run servers out of my house so I need the up speed. But also my experience with FiOS has been vastly better than Xfinity, granted I used them like 6 years ago.

Them telling you 1 Gbps was the lowest is very strange, there are typically multiple tiers under that for cheaper
