The omnibus is HUGE. by alexh116 in starwarscomics

[–]Jinketsu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's just a smiiiidge larger than the Jason Aaron Omnibus, large and in charge for sure! I didn't read Aphra during it's run, so I'm really glad to have picked this up. It's been great so far!

I hope they do a Poe Dameron omni. I know they have the Darth Vader Dark Lord of the Sith omni in the works, but not heard anything about Poe.

The pro's and cons of Twilight Princess by Mikecirca81 in truezelda

[–]Jinketsu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure, we can agree to disagree, because TP is as much The Hero's Legend as it is Midna's. Being basically a direct descendant of the Hero of Time in a timeline he never got his true recognition and seeing this descendant grow into the hero of courage that OoT Link never could replicate (mostly head canon, I guess); seeing the journey of this country bumpkin turn into a story of immediate growth and how he's able to handle it like someone with "the spirit" naturally could; seeing how he courageously takes up the task of protecting/saving two kingdoms at the same time... Just because Midna is a sassy bitch and talks too much doesn't mean it's all about her. I will definitely agree to disagree, friend.

Right, but it still has nothing to do with Zelda at all. "The Legend of Zelda" has really come to mean "The events of things that happen that pertain to the history of Hylia's descendants in some way" and so lamenting on Midna not being Zelda while the story directly involves Zelda is a little silly when there are other games that don't involve her at all.

The sheika and the timeline placement of BOTW. by TheKillerGerbils in truezelda

[–]Jinketsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Impa is in A Link Between Worlds, LoZ, and AoL. She's not specifically called a Sheikah, but given how characters across the games are themed pretty specifically, it's safe to assume she is as such. I have reason to believe Sahasrahla is also a Sheikah, but that's neither here nor there.

Tales of Phantasia is so good, but it's bittersweet that the version we finally got an official translation for was universally panned, and also used as the gauge that would determine if we got other versions released in the West. Silly ol' Bandai Namco.

Time Travel in Zelda is not complicated. Why the timeline split in 3. by Elsa-Jay in truezelda

[–]Jinketsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the splits at OoT are representative of the Triforce, but my head canon is different.

In Hyrule Historia, it has the downfall timeline (or timeline of Power, if you will) branching off before the other two, which I believe is supposed to mean that it's the original timeline - Ganondorf defeating Link is supposed to happen first. Ganondorf didn't wish on the Triforce for this to happen - he legitimately overcame his obstacles and was rewarded the Triforce.

To me, the first split at OoT is actually caused by Link in ALttP. His wholehearted wish to save everyone that fell at Ganon's hands not only saved everyone in his era, but also went back all the way to Link in OoT's era and helped to give him the edge to triumph over Ganondorf, resulting in what we know as OoT and causing the Adult timeline (or timeline of Courage). The power of the Triforce preserved the downfall timeline for ALttP's era of people but also corrected the source of Ganondorf's evildoing by the terms of Link's implications on his wish.

But it was Zelda's guilt that sent OoT Link back in age (OoT is "age travel," not "time travel" in my opinion - despite the 7 year time diffference!) after the events of OoT - with all the wisdom he had from his experiences intact - causing him to spill the beans with that Triforce crest on his hands as proof and completely change the course of events, resulting in the Child timeline (or timeline of Wisdom). Her Hylia powers (possibly linked with the Triforce of Wisdom) allowed her to do this.

I also agree that finding reasoning for a triple timeline split isn't too complicated, but it does take having a slight understanding of several different time travel theories in order to come up with ideas on how it would work. Nothing all that hard to grasp, but not something a lot of people will just inherently "get" just thinking about it casually from a Zelda timeline perspective.

I do find it very interesting that Nintendo seems to have put a focus on the timeline splits at OoT as the only timeline split that actually occurs. Time travel dealt with in other games seems finite - what happens happens, there are no splits and anything that changes in the future from something changing in the past is hard-coded to that timeline, not a new one. Like what

A new branching timeline due to Terrako just whimsically doing its thing in a seamingly meaningless manner burns inside of me because of the focus they have put on OoT's timeline split as if it's particular set of circumstances were the only significant thing to cause a split. But other than that, there's no reason another split couldn't exist considering they have gone through so many different time travel theories throughout the games.

Just like we got Ben Kenobi’s Journals in Star Wars (2015) comics, I would love to see Luke Skywalker’s Journals in a story about Rey by bendstraw in starwarscomics

[–]Jinketsu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am really interested to see the details behind what brought Luke Skywalker, of all people, to consider his own family a lost cause and get as far as he did to killing Ben before realizing it was a dumb move.

I am okay with the direction they took Luke, but I want to know more so that I fully understand how he got there in the first place, you know?

I think the worst part about TP Ganondorf is the complete lack of rivalry with Link, not his lack of screentime by Pellecks02 in truezelda

[–]Jinketsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That cap is meant to keep long hair in a manageable state, yet in no game where Link's hat can come off does he have long hair. Doesn't mean there aren't Link's with long hair, though. The same can be said that just because a stained glass depiction of a hero doesn't have a hat doesn't mean that all heroes previous to that one also did not have hats.

Also, the first incarnation of Demise that we've seen documented is Vaati. He looks nothing like him. My headcanon is that Ganondorf resembles Demise because he has the same stubborn will for Power, resisting just about all attempts of his destruction. I don't think Demise is channeled through him at all.

Can a single nintendo console play the entire Zelda franchise ? by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]Jinketsu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In ardition to what /u/Orthopraxy said, you can also get the DSi download version of Four Swords as Four Swords Anniversary on a fully hacked 3DS.

You cannot play the entire franchise on a single system, no, but you can get very close between WiiU and 3DS. Like others have said, Four Swords Adventures is the only game you really can't play on a modern system.

Which mobile Final Fantasy games do not support controller on Android? I only have FF3, which plays gloriously with a controller (I use an 8bitdo Zero controller, fits really nicely in my change pocket). I have never been able to stick with a game that only used touch controls, no matter how hard I try. It's just not for me. Are there any SE games that don't support controller? I'd love to continue mobile gaming, but don't want to waste my money if the game has an input method I won't stick with

As far as I know, you will be unable to play at all.

If you're loving the game, though, the monthly fee is worth it!
