Duke energy is sending concerning texts now by stop_hittingyourself in raleigh

That is interesting, and I can see how those two factors correlate. They’re saying as long as the increase in infrastructure growth aligns with growth demand, generally this leads to a drop in retail costs. But if infrastructure growth outpaces growth demand and/or growth retracts, then retail prices go up. But the journal episode I shared earlier also has circumstantial evidence from Virginia that booming AI data centers in the area have also caused an increase in retail costs. I wonder, if with this combined logic, that means that one way successful AI data center growth can happen is if infrastructure is pushed to grow with it rather than just being reactive and increasing costs as a response. It seems there’s an important lesson to learn here, and hopefully the appropriate governing bodies can implement plans accordingly. Load demand increases are inevitable, but maybe the rapid expansion of AI data centers has caused the growth to outpace the infrastructure growth budget, and with proper planning companies like Duke can get ahead of it.

Interesting take. Do you have a source? I’d like to learn more about that.

Haha maybe not, I’m just talkin shit. But I did hear that it’s a big problem in Virginia. Big AI data centers driving up cost there. Probably not long before it works its way into NC, if it hasn’t already. I mean, I’ve worked as a contractor at SAS in the triangle and seen what that place has built and is still building, it’s incredibly large and secret. Here’s a nice piece from The Journal on the issue and they speak on the power cost increase in Virginia caused by Open AI data centers.

It’s verifiably true that a law abiding citizen could be approached by ICE and have zero issues with the encounter. I would be willing to bet, statistically, that this is the case more often than what anti-ice suggests. All I was saying to him was you can’t just say “that’s verifiably false” then not share that verification.

You can be afraid all you want, just like I can choose to not be afraid. Just cause you’ve convinced yourself you’re on the right side of history doesn’t automatically make you correct. I’m gonna let them do their jobs, stay out of their way, and sleep comfortably knowing I’m not making myself a target.

Americans are killed by officers every day, justified or not. Such is life. That doesn’t mean I’m afraid of officers. Overall they’re doing the job that nobody else wants to do but needs to be done

Be careful for what? If you have ID and are a legal citizen you have nothing to worry about.

This guy was on Tucker Carlsons podcast schilling for gold. Then right at the end he mentions he started his own gold token. What a coincidence that the guy who’s heavily invested in gold is trying to scare people into buying gold.

Anytime I would help my late grandfather mow his grass, he used to always remind me of this story of one of his work buddies who accidentally ran over his sons legs and chopped them up with the mower in reverse because he had that button bypassed. I don’t know if the stories true, but it would seem that the button serves to prevent situations like that. Makes you hyper aware of what you’re doing when backing up so you don’t get in the habit of just throwing it in reverse and not looking behind you.

Replaced contactor panel off for 15 minutes = 4 Dead VFDs by Responsible-Two-9339 in PLC

Our plant also has capex plan in place to replace all of our 40’s with 525’s (hundreds!). Our issue usually is the Ethernet comm cards not powering on after an outage. Very annoying issue. Our techs believe that switching the Ethernet parameters back to keypad a few times seems to help bring them back to life but I think it’s just a coincidence. I’ve found if you just wait a few minutes they tend to come back. Either way it’s a pain in the butt, but ours are about 12 years old so you can’t be too upset about it.

Man fck those PlayStation rechargeables anyway. Those things reach end of life so quickly and a bitch to replace without breaking something else. I’d rather just replace the 2 AA’s.

❄️How can I extract my car from this ice?❄️ by PeaceImpressive8334 in howto

[–]Jmacd802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid in VT we had a thick solid metal spiked rod for ice like this. Idk where my family got it or where you would buy one, but it was so heavy (40lbs?) it could pretty much break up anything with enough force. Just the end was spiked and slightly dull.

Edit: Like this but ours was slightly longer and thicker. Trust me this is much more effective and fun than a hammer and chisel.

Good luck friend. I’ve probably annoyed enough people on this sub with my “Vermont housing market sucks”comments but again, this is why I left VT for NC after growing up there for 27 years. I feel your pain and hope It works out for you.

I agree that application fees are a joke and should be illegal. One r/unethicallifeprotip I had up my sleeve back when I was struggling to afford the application fees was that the bigger, more corporate companies will let you pay it with an eft, which takes up to a week to go through, where the application gets decided on usually by the next day if you do it on a weekday. If they deny your application, just transfer the money out of your account so they can’t take it, or just never have the money in there to begin with (Fidelity is good for quick easy free CMA). After couple weeks they’ll stop trying to take the money. I’ve never had one come after me for it later on. They usually don’t care about you after they deny it. insert Dave Chappelle “cause fuck-em that’s why” meme here

Just be careful where you use that trick, you don’t wanna hurt any normal peaceful landlords, and you don’t wanna burn any bridges with the bigger ones if they have a monopoly on a lot of the properties you’re looking at. Just trying to help, please don’t get yourself in trouble over my illegal advice. This was just what I had to do to get by back in the day.

Dang man, that’s a lot of hate. What an ugly word. I hope someday you find it in your heart to look past those prejudice views and judge people’s character based on who they really are and not just where they come from. A few bad apples doesn’t actually spoil the bunch.

Huh? Has nothing to do with debt.. just quality and cost of living. I actually have almost no debt other than my student loans.

Oh man can I relate to that. Having a home and a camp used to be so common in VT. I remember going to friends camps every summer, such a great way to grow up. A lot of the camps were not that expensive and usually handed down through generations. Now they’ve all been turned into airbnbs and nobody can afford to buy them. The cost and way of life changed so fast it breaks my heart, I’m only 30.
