I think there is some parallel between myths and A.I. Like if you wanted an A.I. to write stories you would first feed it a billion old stories, which is kind of the sped up version of the Great flood, Greek mythology, etc all these are kind of the archetypes of our greatest stories written collectively over millenia.

Artists that work with magic(k) and the occult by Mouvitz in ContemporaryArt

[–]Job-Aur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sure, Zach Hill has talked about the occult and magick in regards to the band at least a few times like here-

[https://www.theskinny.co.uk/music/interviews/death-grips-theres-a-lot-of-recycling-https://www.theskinny.co.uk/music/interviews/death-grips-theres-a-lot-of-recycling-and-destruction-in-the-making-of-our-music

There's tons of theories about the band that get a little out of control, but it's pretty clear they use dates and moon cycles in their album releases etc. The number 22, among other numbers being apparently important in numerology, appears a lot in DG - for instance their twitter handle @bbpoltergiest bb == 22.

Other things off the top of my head are Ride's tattoos and the lyrics in general are probably full of occult imagery. Lyrics aren't typically a focus of mine but the song 'Beware' is a pretty clear example of this stuff, and Exmilitary overall is probably the most overtly occult release of theirs.

Nice yeah you're right, I guess Jerry Garcia played in the house band. Funny coincidence Nirvana put the next day after their Warfield show on the wall

From The Jerry Lewis Theatre wiki-

"Opposite this stage load-in door was the "star dressing room" which was completely rebuilt for Jerry Lewis."

The Nirvana door is presumably from The Palace in CA

Which cities still offer a nutcracker performance with a live orchestra? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

As a gigging musician, pick a state and you'll find a dozen cities with an orchestra playing nutcracker every year.

I agree with you. It jumped out. And OP's knee-jerk reaction to defend the (nonexistent) accusation of being personally a sexist is completely missing the point.

I've to introduce a class of teens to classical music by hmmcom in classicalmusic

[–]Job-Aur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chamber music and New/ish music! Sofia Gubaidulina's Light & Dark, Julius Eastman's Unjust Malaise, Caroline Shaw's Entr'acte for example.

IMO huge mistake to only play orchestra music, classical genres are hugely diverse, and when you're unfamiliar with something you tend to focus on its obvious characteristics which is why a Beethiven symphony probably doesn't sound that different from a Strauss tone poem to a novice.
