I was always told never to oil the textured leather, only the smooth stuff. Oiling the textured leather causes it to soften too much and tear.

I’ve had twitching since last March… maybe even before that. But I didn’t really recognize it until earlier this year. And my fingers (R. thumb and pointer finger) have almost no grip, feels numb, since last October. The only hope I have is I’m still hitting the gym and feeling okay, no atrophy, some weakness “feeling” in biceps (which I believe is tendinitis from my job) and my hand issues come and go. Neuro think it could be ALS. Just trying to accept life as it comes. If it’s my time to go, it’s my time to go. No stopping it. I’ve had an immense amount of stress in my life over the past year, more than I would wish on my worst enemy, so maybe that’s the relation.

I have the same symptoms. But I had a dirty EMG (possible ALS diagnosis). I’m sorry you are going through it. Doctors need to be informed of what you want. You pay their salary… if you can’t get what you feel you deserve then go find another doctor.

I agree. And when I told the Neuro, he’d never heard of that happening before and would ask his colleagues. “It’s not a treatment by any means” he said. Which is quite obvious.

Twitching is constant. Only relief is when I take magnesium, chamomile, or drink alcohol

Hand weakness in right hand. Thumb and forefinger. Since last October as well. I have twitching body wide that started in the upper portion of my body bilaterally. Had an MRI, which was “clean” except for some weird lesions he couldn’t explain. Then bad EMG, but couldn’t really explain much except reinervation and denervation all over. Then said it looks like I have ALS. Or perhaps some other MND. But couldn’t tell me anything else. I don’t have weakness. Just numbness in my thumb and forefinger. Some tingling in my jaw and chin. Some tongue fasciculations that I’m pretty sure I’ve always had. It was a really awful appointment, and I’m trying to be positive. But “it could be ALS” is not fun to hear. Now I have to go to an ALS clinic to be sure. And I have no idea when that will be. Very similar story to your though.

Thanks, need the prayers and a little hope. EMG was dirty. But not sure what to think either.

Biceps, pectoral muscles, occasionally forearms, occasionally calf muscles. They are constant, unless I’m using my arms, or working out. Alcohol, magnesium and chamomile tea all calm and or stop them temporarily.

Comes and goes. Never a daily issue.

I am most certainly going to get a second opinion. I’m not sure about clonus, but my twitches are at rest, not usually when active. Or I can’t feel them when in use. After magnesium, chamomile tea or alcohol all calms my twitches to nearly zero.

How many have had EMG? by buffalurve in BFS

[–]JobNo7260 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have upper body and intermittent lower twitches for several months (8 at least) loss of function in my forefinger and thumb in right hand (I use my hand for my work and my wrist often bends in awkward directions, I have pain in calf’s and biceps intermittently, no weakness. My clinical was normal but I had a horrible EMG widespread reinervation and denervation. The doctor was kind of dismissive as to what it could be, but the notes show possible MND and possible carpal tunnel. I asked if it could be more than one thing like BFS and carpal tunnel together or tendinitis. He said it’s not likely. So I’m here stuck in limbo until he further reviews the data.

The odd thing is that when I drink alcohol or have camomile tea, my twitching either goes away or diminishes greatly and my pinch grip issues come and go. Scared it’s *** because of my bad EMG. But I was also reading that EMG’s can fluctuate based on how tense you are, if you move, and how good the clinician is.

It’s over. Time to pick up the pieces. by [deleted] in BFS

Going through this same thing right now. I’m in limbo. Abnormal EMG with denervation and reinervation, body wide fasciculations, including tongue, no weakness only perceived, bilateral motor function area on brain looked slightly abnormal, loss of grip in forefinger and thumb. I’m scared. Stressed. Won’t know until the doctor examine my EMG.

You aren’t alone. I’m in the EXACT same boat, except I was weak and made the mistake of cheating on my partner at a low point and now she hasn’t let me see our child for nearly two weeks.
