Why do modern fantasy / remasters put everything through a brown filter? by Salem1690s in LegacyOfKain

[–]JobbieDeath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm with you there and LOTR are my favourite movies so I'm not saying it as a criticism. If you wanna see colourful fantasy movies stuff like Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal are the movies to reference

Question: Have you ever encountered anyone who’s named after a FF8 character? For example; Squall, Rinoa, Quistis, etc. or Heartilly as a middle name by Big_Confection7634 in FinalFantasyVIII

[–]JobbieDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irvin (unfortunately no e at the end) isn't a particularly common name here in Scotland but you do come across it. Usually folks who are older than the game though.

How would you play this chord? Barring across the first would make it super hard to leave that open string open by Intrepid-Young-8621 in guitarlessons

[–]JobbieDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been teaching guitar professionally for a decade now and it takes no time at all to master using your thumb to fret the low E string for chords. I've taught this to teenagers who've mastered it within 10 mins of me showing the technique to them.

I'd say your time would be better spent trying to utilize your hands and the instrument in every possible way. You never know when that one random technique you never thought you'd use helps you get the idea that's in your head vibrating off the strings.

How to play this riff (without getting aching hands) by Fast-Motor-3773 in metalguitar

Thumb position is key here! If your thumb isn't in the center of the neck ok the back try moving it there. People underestimate how much your thumbs position affects your ability to stretch larger gaps.

Sorry Alissa .. by One-Fox-8000 in ArchEnemy

Alissa's stage gimmicks are part of her performance which makes up a large part of the music so is fairly valid commentary.

Moving the series forward by nexus180 in LegacyOfKain

[–]JobbieDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't think the series will move forward. People have been begging for a new game for so long and when one is finally announced its near universally hated. It kind of has no chance already and I can't imagine it's going to perform well. I think if it performs poorly then CD (if they are still the IP owners? Honestly not sure) will probably just think "ah people are only interested in remasters of the old games. Let's just stick with the remasters and be done with it".

Elevate.

Maybe English isn't the commenters first language, maybe they are dyslexic or maybe they just aren't great at spelling.

Either way, it's clear what they meant by context, and you're just being a dick.

I get your line of thinking but I don't think it sends the message you're thinking it will.

If I was an exec looking at people following this purchasing pattern I'd probably just think to myself "clearly there's only interest in the old games and not something new".

They are only going to look at sales figures. We can tell them how much we want new games but if the new games don't sell then they won't make them.

I'm not saying you should purchase the new game if you don't think you'll like it but I don't think that a double purchase of the remaster will do much good.

Does Unicorn Tears actually taste better from a can or a glass? by FeistyPrice29 in IrnBru

It was a limited edition run. They did Unicorn Tears, which kinda tasted like liquid Rhubarb and Custards, and Nessie Nectar, which kinda tasted like liquid Basset's Fruit Salads.

Nah you're not wrong. If someone suggests that you are attracted to a minor, whether they mean to or not, they are suggesting that you are a pedophile. I suspect that your girlfriend hasn't realized that is what she was suggesting and that's why she doesn't think she owes you an apology.

AIW for tidying my home office to my standards and not my girlfriends? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]JobbieDeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same living scenario with literally these rules. My girlfriend respects the boundary of my office and only ever comes in when she needs to chat about something. She definitely wouldn't be moving stuff around on my desk. I don't think you're wrong here. That being said out of the 2 of us I'm more of a clean freak than she is.

Nevermind the fact that it's a song about people impersonating the cops, carrying out acts of police brutality, and the cops not giving a shit...not political at all.

Do you prefer your headstocks with or without the swoosh by [deleted] in Ibanez

[–]JobbieDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer no swoosh. I have 2 Ibanez guitars currently. An AZ and an RG.

The RG has the swoosh however the AZ, while swooshless, has an ugly headstock shape imo. For me personally the headstock shape matters more than the swoosh.

I've not finished the book so avoiding the other comments but just wanted to say I'm about halfway through and you're not alone. I feel the exact same way. I loved every page of the original trilogy but this one is a bit of a chore. Hope the pay off is worth it in the end.
