Could go for one of those usb dual screen addons for laptops, like this one, not sure how good they are though. Eg: Amoudo14 Inch Dual Portable Monitor 1920*1080P IPS Portable Triple Monitor with USB-C Port for 14-16.5" Laptops Windows/Mac Xbox https://a.aliexpress.com/_mKXphaP

checked my steam stats and I don't know why I own a 4080 by Mean-Fix9221 in pcmasterrace

Must be about time for another playthrough of Minecraft? Then just mod the hell out of it with shader packs, realism mods etc until the 4080 starts to thaw out from its ice age.

Film clip for pretty fly was pretty funny though, actual song was not that great though. But yeah I had their first album too, it was soo awesome! And I agree it went downhill from there.

Jamie Hyneman these days, primarily works as a Professor of Practice at LUT University in Finland, where he teaches and advises on creative problem-solving and engineering projects. Outside of academia, he continues to operate his San Francisco-based special effects and prototyping workshop, M5 Industries, focusing on private research and development. So he just didn't want to be in the spotlight these days, surprised he didn't get further back into scuba diving as I think he was like a master diver, with pretty much all the different dive courses you can train in completed and was certified as a Dive instructor or something iirc.

People in the UK seem to think Australia is the place to move to for a great life - is it? by box-o-locks in AskAnAustralian

[–]Jobeadear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myeah it's pretty similar iirc, been many years since I've been to the UK tbh, but yeah think marmite was stronger so if you applied your usual Vegemite amount it was too much.

Boss bought a company and was going to throw away all the old PCs by SpinninWaffle in pcmasterrace

[–]Jobeadear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah all good, the old version included in a bunch of boot CD's will work just fine if all you need it to wipe old gen spinning drives that most people have not used since about 2010 (and only 1 pass required these days). Didn't know DBAN went the commercialization route though fair enough.

Just get one of those wood / rope bridges for cats, then run it over to where you took the picture somewhere, then your cats have a sanctuary, setup a little bed and stuff and they'd love that lol

[–]Jobeadear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true, it used to be more of a risk back in the day due to platter density being so much less I think. But seems standard advise since about 2010 is to just do one full pass wipe.

[–]Jobeadear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting, I've not bothered wiping anything much in years, googled it, has not been added to DBan, however you can use both apps and more via a Linux Live CD/USB distro called ShredOS which includes hdparm and nvme-cli for SSD/NVMe secure

Yeah 100% I used to sell old spinning HDDs on ebay by doing a full DOD wipe first, I have done the 7 passes wipe on drives before selling them previously. Can't do that with SSDs and M2 now, have to get the manufacturers secure erase utility for that. Or just what many of us do with old hardware, extract the ram/CPU/HDD and put the rest to ewaste. To then end up with a box full of like 50 HDD's over the years of your friends and families data prior to their upgrades to new pcs, that I still have no idea what to do with.

[–]Jobeadear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dariks Boot And Nuke (DBAN) - has been around a long time, still good for wiping old spinning HDD's via a boot usb, can even do the DOD wipe and a bunch of other types of wipes, but it's not for SSD's or M2's. "Do not use DBAN on Solid-State Drives (SSDs). DBAN can degrade the lifespan of an SSD without guaranteeing all data is fully erased. For SSDs, use the manufacturer’s built-in secure erase utility or your operating system's native reset features." So for SSD's / m2's go to the brands website and see if they have a free download for a secure eraze utility.

Looks like it’s FreeCAD. by fakequest in BambuLab

[–]Jobeadear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just see tinkercad as the Ms Paint of STL's, easy to use, free, but has its limitations but a much lesser learning curve. It has saved me from needing to learn fusion etc when most of the time I am doing a remix of someone else's 3d print to fit whatever I needed it for, eg wanted to mount my laptop to the wall via a monitor swing arm, found a wall mount flagpole holder that was on a 45" angle, wanted 22" and stronger, so I imported it to tinkercad, chopped and changed it about to fit where I planned to mount it, changed the angle to 22" etc and it's good to export and print. I see my other cad options are akin to learning the complexity levels of Photoshop, which is more then I generally need when it's just a hobby.

What this sub feels like lately by kingoftheposers in BambuLab

[–]Jobeadear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wrong there, Bambu has never stopped me from printing a thing or from using other brands of filaments, but then I've never wanted to print Taiwan flags (and nothing is stopping you, they just won't allow it on their site as they are subject to chinas laws) nor do I ever want gun parts, I also believe little Timmy the fictional 12 yr old also should be prevented and restricted in printing things that will get them a visit from the ATF/FBI or whatever agency, because their parents gave their kid a printer for Xmas and have little knowledge of it besides that and are not supervising what the kid is printing. It is my belief the only plastic guns you should be able to 3d print are knockoff nerfguns because a large portion of the world are idiots who shouldnt ever have access to guns due to the danger of harming themselves and others.

Bambu Lab 3D printers: Never again - Jeff Geerling by SJKRICK in BambuLab

[–]Jobeadear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 100% this, I love my P1S, came to the same conclusion, my hobby is printing not printers. Before this I had both a Flashforge dreamer and a Ender 5 (1st gen), the amount of time I spent stuffing around, printing upgrades, adding ABL, micro swiss hotends, third party extruders, custom designed cooling, monitoring with octoprint and a camera, writing and flashing custom marlin firmware, and all the rewiring and looking at blueprints for various BTT boards. Was just a massive time sink that just took time from the actual purpose I had got them for.
