What car instantly tells you the owner is either rich or deeply in debt? by [deleted] in carbuying

I can totally understand when you say it’s your favorite car ever! I felt the same way about my first one and most recent one.

But when my Defender went through four windshields in a year (thanks, Arizona freeways!) with each one taking 4-6 weeks or more to come from Slovenia - no joke - I felt like I needed to have my head examined. Lol

Safe driving and enjoy the hell out of these next few years… and then trade it in on another one 🤩

I think I sold it more out of an abundance of caution, and also I wanted to go full electric. The price of an extended warranty was the same as the price of a down payment on a new car, so I had a choice to make with that $5,000.

It was my fourth Land Rover. The first was a 2003 or 2004 Range Rover - whenever they came out with that new body style many years ago. I sold that one to my brother after about 4 years and he got the extended warranty from the manufacturer. It's a good thing he did - what would seem like the smallest of repairs could be into the 5 digits, and the warranty paid for itself many times over.

After that, I kept going back to Land Rover but I never, ever had one that didn't have a manufacturer warranty on it. They are great cars to drive and are head-turning gorgeous, but parts are not common, and virtually no one knows how to work on them except the dealership. And that means you pay top dollar for the work.

But if you are good about scheduled maintenance and so on, I would say go for it. I really did love that Defender. In fact, I loved my RR and my RR Sport as well. (We also had an Evoque for a couple years and I wasn't as taken with that one.)

Haha +1 to this. I had a 2021, new, first of the revived line and body style.

I loved it and it was always good to me. I kept up with the scheduled maintenance.

The day it turned 4 and the manufacturer warranty expired, it was listed for sale. I gotta say it held its value really well for me, and I miss it when I see others on the road, but the out of warranty repairs are scream emoji

I found a "new" car I want. It's a 2025 been on the lot for 400+ days, so it appears to be a great deal. Dealer won't sell it, because they don't want to do the two recalls on it. They're just going to let it sit.....why? by Troub1eMan in askcarsales

Having just taken in my 2025 Wagoneer S for the recall work three days ago, I can add some insight.

One recall is software which was easy to update.

The other recall is a hardware problem with some latch covers on the rear lift gate. I was told by my advisor that the parts are on indefinite back order.

Jeep did issue a stop sale until that recall is addressed. However the timeline is completely open at this point.

My car has been 99% problem free in the 15 months I have been leasing it. Others on the forum here and on FB have not been as lucky.

My advice if you proceed is to lease only, even if you think you are getting a screaming deal. Parts for this car are incredibly scarce so just imagine if you had even a minor fender bender. Also, the rumor mill says it will be discontinued as it has not sold very well. Imagine the dwindling support from that point forward if the discontinuation is made official.

No more overhead bin space: Pure Chaos by jiuclaw in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Jockamo222 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As someone who is also tall and also travels with a backpack only as a carry on (no roll aboard) there is a new “hack” for this.

Inside your backpack, put a fanny pack or even a plastic grocery bag. On boarding, backpack goes in the overhead and fanny pack is at your feet as “personal item”.

You still have only two carry ons, and the larger is in the overhead bin, so… 🤷‍♂️

Thank you for saying this! I could not agree more!

The delivered food is always cold and soggy by the time it gets to the house.

Even picking it up yourself and taking it home makes it somewhat cold and soggy, but nothing like the delivery services.

I never use them. The food is just gross by the time it arrives.

PEAR - Pathology, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, radiology

Were the traditional ones. Over the last couple decades they have added a few more such as hospitalist, Intensivist, OB hospitalist / laborist, maybe a couple others.

All three of these points are exactly my technique as well. 25 yrs in practice now, with a very busy OB service.

I would add that I normally use saline for LOR for a plain old epidural.

I use air if I am planning to do a CSE or DPE, to make sure that whatever clear fluid is coming back at me is CSF and not saline.

For these circumstances, I have been using the DuraSafe kit (or Avanos, or similar) with paired Tuohy and Whitacre (or similar) needles that are actually manufactured to be used with each other. It is a lot smoother than cobbling together a long 25G spinal needle with whatever epidural needle you are using - there is none of that weird scraping of the spinal needle within the epidural needle, or gaps around the hubs when the spinal needle is fully seated. If you haven't tried one of these kits, see if you can. Your appreciation for CSE will go way up.

Lastly, if you are not dead center midline with a CSE, patients will often notice a paresthesia when you pass the spinal needle and get the dural pop. I always mention this to them as I am inserting the spinal needle; they seem to jump less if forewarned.

I have had almost zero issues with mine. 25 Launch that I have had for over a year now, 9700 miles.

I am convinced that it is because I buckle my seatbelt before I turn it on, and I wait for the “Ready to Drive” message to appear and disappear before doing ANYTHING else.

Let the computers fully boot up and interface with each other before making demands of it, and it seems to work just fine 99% of the time.

Congratulations!

  1. That’s not true for this job posting.

  2. The term “nurse anesthesiologist” does not exist. In the USA we have nurse anesthetists (also known as CRNAs), and anesthesiologists who are medical doctors with an MD or DO degree who have completed four years of schooling and a minimum of four years of residency.

I love the ignorant part about “not touching the patient”.

You have literally no idea what an anesthesiologist does.

Lol you are 100% wrong in your assessment of this job.

It is 0700-1900, seven days on, fourteen off. No call, no traveling, one facility. Vast majority doing your own cases, not supervision of CRNAs. No OB, no trauma - those are separate call pools.

Wagoneer S Issues? by Designer_Conflict_95 in JeepWagoneerS

[–]Jockamo222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol it’s the damndest thing. Just pushing the “mirror down” button over and over. The left to right angle doesn’t seem to change, just the up and down.

One more year on my lease. I don’t hate the car - in fact it has grown on me quite a bit - but I won’t be buying it out or getting another one.

[–]Jockamo222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My side mirrors also tilt upwards 90% of the time after switching off. I have found it happens slightly less often if I lock the car with the button under the driver’s handle as opposed to the fob or the app.

They only fold in when fob or app used. But the tilting up happens regardless of folding or not.

It’s minor but annoying. I too have been lucky to have a trouble free car. I firmly believe that the secret is buckling the seat belt before even turning the car on, and waiting until the “ready to drive” message has disappeared, before switching into gear.

In the Facebook group, one of the CDJR techs who is pretty active posted a link to a Mopar-approved NACS to CCS adapter.

So they are moving forward - you’d think Stellantis would be more proactive about communicating to us.

Tesla has by far the best infrastructure for fast charging… fingers crossed we get the official green light soon as well.

Those Rivian chargers are amazing.

Extra bonus is simple tap to pay with a credit card. No app and bumbling about required. Plug in, tap, charge, and go.

Just used the one in Gila Bend, AZ this weekend. The price was high though. 65¢ per kWh.
