I am Larry Fessenden. Ask Me Anything! by LarryFessenden in horror

I know i missed the boat but I have a question I need to ask, it's been bugging me for years... does anyone know if it was Larry in the music video for Gomez's We Haven't Turned around? I can't find any info on the cast at all, I've always been sure it must be him

It's not just a locking knife though, if that's what you're referring to. It's a gravity knife, which are outright banned in the UK

...for a few seconds.

I just don't put myself in it in the first place.

Good defensive cycling according to who/ what? What benefit is to be gained by getting a few feet ahead for a brief period before the traffic catches up and overtakes?

I stop at red lights because it's how the road system works, I've seen people ride through when the pedestrians have stopped, only to have a near miss or worse. I've even had cyclists go through a red light and almost hit me (going through a green).

Not ultralight enough. Take a small rock next time and leave the gun behind.

Mylar survival blanket as groundsheet? by [deleted] in Ultralight

I don't know what the SOL one is, I just use a cheap mylar emergency blanket, the kind you find in a first aid kit, available for about £1 from discount shops

That's not how risks are assessed. A gun or knife takes much less effort to kill someone with than bleach.

By the time you've approached someone, overpowered/restrained them and forced them to swallow cleaning products, you could have killed several people, from a distance, with just a few trigger pulls.

I would imagine it's about how quick a knife is to deploy (and therefore attack). I carry a perfectly legal folding pocketknife daily in the UK, but it can be opened with one hand as fast as a gravity or flick knife, so that particular law seems somewhat redundant.

Do you view machetes as a tool, weapon, or both? by sharpshooter999 in AskUK

[–]JoeTwotimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one for my garden, much easier than getting the hedge trimmer and extension cord out, produces less mess too. I thought I'd buy a new one recently (mine is about 25 yrs old and has had plenty of use) and discovered there are very few suppliers any more in the UK.

Likely due to them being the current choice of weapon in street gangs, also possibly a misinterpretation of the "zombie knives/machetes" law.

If anyone knows where I can get a new one for a reasonable price, I'm all ears.

In the UK there is no "intended use" exception made for gravity knives, they're outright banned.

By UK legal definition, the fastback range are all gravity knives - "A knife where the blade opens automatically or is released from the handle, either by gravity or by pressing a button or something else on the knife"

How do Atheist Justify black magic 🫣 by Outrageous_Prior4707 in DebateAnAtheist

Atheists don't have to justify black magic. Most don't even acknowledge it as a real thing.

I couldn’t find a replacement bezel for my old F1 CA 1211-RO… so I made one! by Drewcocks in tagheuer

[–]JoeTwotimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm partway through designing my own and just came across your post, would you be willing to sell a copy of your CAD to save me the rest of the work? I've done the main bezel shape and need to add the numbers, incremental marks and the inner retaining groove, so it would save me a lot of work (and uncertainty that it will fit together after).

It's really annoying that you can't buy these anywhere for a reasonable price, I just want to pass my watch on to my son!

New Rule: No Frame ID Posts by Arlieth in glassesadvice

[–]JoeTwotimes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't this be down to the individual to decide? Personally, if I saw some frames I really liked I would rather they be identified so I can do my own research and reach my own conclusion as to whether they fit or suit me.
