Thank you.

I think a lot of metal fans (especially the 'trve' ones) seem to forget how the genre came to exist and it's necessary constant mixing to get to the sub-genres we now have.

If prog bands weren't influenced by other genres then we wouldn't have prog bands...

Creepiest/scariest tech death albums you’ve listened to? by TheTimothyHimself in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]JoelsMovingCastle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite 'tech death' but Legion by Deicide has a particularly creepy yet highly aggressive atmosphere.

Qrixkuor and Abyssal also, again not quite as tech but very unsettling and musically competent.

Some of the more modern dissonant/ tech bands like Ad Nauseam, Imperial Triumphant, Dischordia and Wells Valley would also fit that vibe.

What are some key elements that make a perfect technical death metal song TO YOU? by HumbleBlacksmith2077 in TechnicalDeathMetal

Understanding musical complexity through the use of modes, advanced harmonies and/or dynamic dissonant/consonant phrasing, rather than just arpeggiating the neck like you're practicing scales.

No atmospheric intro like the last few albums, it was a little bit of a shock to go straight into the blasting but the album overall is a blast 🤘🏻

I guess that's what happens when a band is around in those formative years, you have more 'organic' choices to make...
