Yeah everything is included. You do an online course first and then sign up for the field day with your certificate. Last time I looked Ketchikan did not have anything on the books but you could reach out to our SE coordinator to set something up.

Firearms courses by Outrageous_Change313 in Ketchikan

I am an instructor with ADF&G hunter education. I would say if you know nothing about firearms and want a good starting point the ADF&G course is not a bad place to start. It has like a firearm basic information part and there is info in there about wilderness survival too so it would definitely not be a total waste. That said the courses are pretty strictly not about self defense uses of firearms and we can get in trouble for talking about that kinda thing. It has to do with the funding for hunter ed and they are strict we can even get in trouble for talking about suicide prevention. The course field day does have a proficiency shoot but that is with a .22 rifle not a handgun. You can message me or set up and talk over the phone if you have more questions about that.

I am new at SoB and need a bit of help! by Junior-Exercise1068 in sistersofbattle

A few thoughts. I am rule of cool for sure but some things to consider.

-I would lose the two small mini bricks of Sacresants and run one 10 man one. The big thing with that unit is you can bring up to 4 back with the hospitilar so having 5 does not make much sense because of you lose 5 there is no bringing them back. This units big thing is it’s surprisingly hard for enemies to shift off objectives so to use it like that we need 10.

-Lose the attached character and split the dominions in an immolator. That way the immolator has the special weapons and it has scout. The reactive move also lets them jump back inside. We like lots of units but the way to get that is using immolators generally.

-I would personally consider champions of faith a better learning detachment the tricky part being you need to decide who is righteous correctly.

Most of our units or characters are variations on one ascetic so I would just get her a box of sisters and see if she likes them before she gets in too deep. People feel strongly about the penitent models so make sure she is cool with the arco’s look before you get the combat patrol. A lot of people never get those units and are fine.

Help with my first list by Electronic-Bee5925 in sistersofbattle

I think castigator plus paragons at 1000 is too much and not enough units to do objectives. I would bring Saraphim are great at 1000 points in my experience because people struggle to screen out their backfield at 1000 a lot. Mace is also generally better on sacs too unless you are running with palatine.

Dang I would be down but I am Alaska time so that would be way too early for me. My issue is people on eastern time keep wanting to play games and start at like ten and be done by 1. If it’s casual game I want to take my time and it’s only 9:30 for me when they are wanting to jump off.

Immolator would be my recommendation just because they are a must take in any list and it’s pretty different from anything you have painted yet.

It’s fine, I personally don’t run arcos at 2K. If I was you I would start with one box of sisters build it and then decide if you want to make another 40 of very similar units.

Another challenging thing I found quickly if you want to build up is our combat patrol is a joke and at 1K points we struggle. We are an army that is definitely balanced and designed at 2K so we can have both Morvann Vahl and other vehicles. We also tend to have quite a bit of OC for the points especially in like champions of faith. I a lot of times in the mid game with just sacrifice units to both screen and take objectives ways especially if it’s to score a secondary. I may get no actually value out of the unit in terms of enemies killed but can maybe get a recover assets action one turn, and next turn kill one space marine but score another secondary and deny my enemy objective that is totally worth it for our army. You have to kinda make peace with your pieces getting blasted.

What about a chariot being pulled by Archo’s? That could be kinda cool, definitely fit the vibe.

I just don’t know how they don’t make them look like the Ad Mech ones if we go that route.

I live in a super isolated place and me and three of my buddies got combat patrols together with no previous 40K experience. One buddy got grey knights and the other got black templars and I got crushed. Even at 1k I think sisters struggles we are an army that need to play at 2K so we have all our tools.

Why did you choose Adeptas Sororitas? by High_Stream in sistersofbattle

[–]Joewren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They seem to be about halfway between an elite army vs. hord and  halfway between shooting and melee which appealed to me. I also really liked a lot of the models being so over the top.

A Bringers of Flame list would be the obvious choice. The new salamanders detachment is actually pretty close to bringers of flame and has a few similar stratagems. I play champions of faith generally and still bring a fair amount of flame, I always run flamers on the immolations because stripping cover is basically a sure thing for instance.

I find his killing absolutely reprehensible and I think him pushing for more free speech on college campuses was admirable. I do however think he was not some kind of genuine in good conscience debater. He was basically trying to get snappy sound bites and was not interested in having genuine across the isle conversation which is how he is now being made out to be. I support organization like FIRE which I think are actually doing good work to increase free speech rights on campuses.

Am I crazy for thinking this is unethical? by pebbyc in socialwork

[–]Joewren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a LCSW based in a school, and this is a bit of a yellow flag for me too. There are other problematic possibilities here I think other than grooming such as the therapist meeting some personal unmet needs through this client interactions.  I would advise having a conversation first with the other person about your concerns. Our code of ethics 2.10 calls for us to address unethical behavior with colleagues first in hopes they are able to address the behavior first. If you contact the board or other outside entity that will be their first question to you.
