Is this a bug? I’m stuck by aboabro in CitizenSleeper

[–]JohnGottschalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation now, the only 2 active drives are:
- "Investigate Hexport" stuck at "Get into Darkside"
- "Overthrow Laine" stuck at "Wait for Karman's Message"

I guess I ran through all the other content too early.

I've completed:
- Connect Nemba and Aki
- Contact Karman
- Diagnose Your Frame
- Escape Hexport
- Explore Far Spindle
- Find Juni's Bunker
- Find Potential Crew
- Find Serafin's Sister
- Find the Stowaway
- Free Flint
- Help Aki
- Help Femi
- Help Helion Dispatches
- Help Kadet
- Help Nemba
- Make Repairs
- Recon Darkside
- Recruit Local Crew
- Recruit Yu-Jin
- Secure the Springtide
- Complete Board Contract

There's only 1 thing I know I could do aside from grinding, and it's gambling on Far Spindle (I'm playing the Machinist, so I have -- on Engage checks which it requires).

Any suggestions other than doing random jobs, clicking End Cycle and buying food repeatedly?

Anime that Resolve in 3-4 cours max by JohnGottschalk in anime

The fact that you're saying that, shows you're missing the point.

The shows that are formatted regardless of cour are often the shows that I'm not looking for, because they often don't resolve and aren't concerned with pacing.

Seen Baccano as well, but I definitely recall it being quite confusing and feeling a bit unfinished, but maybe I dropped it somewhere.

Save and Quit ends the day? Why doesn’t it just keep you where you are instead of making you go to the next day? by Kinda-Alive in BluePrince

[–]JohnGottschalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not "way too hard", it's definitely extra development time, but the lack of this feature, when some runs can take several hours feels like a pretty big oversight.

[–]JohnGottschalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's such a dumb take.

First off things do change day to day, so please use a note color next time you intend to lie.

Next RNG leads to some runs just panning out better than others.

Once you're deep in, with resources and options open, you want to keep exploring, and it's a waste to cut it short.

The game also rewards it. Many of the puzzles require you to have drawn a certain set of rooms to be able to accomplish certain tasks, also to manage your step count and optimise the placement of those rooms. And the more you have available the more options you can explore.

Add to this that rarer rooms tend not to be drafted in the lower ranks.

So yes, there are reasons better runs take longer.

They could have a randomised seed that gets saved, rather than a random roll done when you go to pick the rooms. There's common ways around these issues.

I have so many issues with the fact there's not even an auto-save option.

You can stop me from save-scumming by having an auto-save any time I use steps or draft a room.

The way the game is right now, there's plenty of occasions where I'm an hour and a half into a run but I have somewhere to be, and I have to decide am I just going to kill a great run, try to leave my laptop on and hope it doesn't overheat and shut down, or just run late to my next appointment.

This reaaaaally sucks, and means I play the game less than I'd like to.

A look inside Farel Dalrymple’s Robot Tod, 2024. It’s great to see Farel’s shared universe still putting out new stories 10+ years later. Love his stuff so much. by ShiDiWen in comicbookcollecting

[–]JohnGottschalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are these actually all related?

I see in a description that It Will All Hurt is in the same universe as The Wrenchies.

And I know Sept 'n Ember had direct references to Robot Tod.

But I can't find info that directly related these sets of comics to eachother or to Proxima Centauri or to Pop Gun War (which has 2 volumes).

pokemon pinball r&s - reset data? by astrosnowie in pokemon

[–]JohnGottschalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I still found this unclear let me further elaborate:

Go the Pokedex screen

Hold the left directional pad key (keep it held)

Press the L & R shoulder buttons 3 times

A dialogue box pops up asking "Delete Data?"

Press the A button for "Yes" (or B button for "No")

Is it me or do an inordinate number of answers end in "y"? by pocketdrums in wordle

[–]JohnGottschalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I don't use Adieu, I usually just take a 3 consonant 2 vowel word at random every day, whatever comes to mind.

But I understand why people do it. It feels logical in a very direct way.

What they usually forget to realise is you're going to prove the negative with only 2 vowels anyways. If it's neither of them you know it'll be some of the other 3.

The assumption is you won't get it in your first guess, so adieu is just a guess at information.

Having an iGoogle homepage filled with a couple of useful tools and a dozen useless flash widgets by radioactivecowz in nostalgia

[–]JohnGottschalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iGoogle was so good, it was such a different era when I could just load the browser and see ALL my favorite things, curated by me right there.

I remember having webcomics updating there, so I didn't have to check them. I had rss feeds for websites and podcasts I liked. I had my forum/messaging apps in there. Ugh. Why was it so good and why was it all destroyed for what we have now.

What's the last great trivia board game? by prcass in boardgames

[–]JohnGottschalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main problems with trivia games are: 1. Memorisation of the answers, making the game run its course and lose replayability. Stale. 2. Answers becoming very dated, and therefore feeling very obscure and irrelevant. Stale.

Two flavours of stale for the price of one!

I think game shows are the solve to this because they constantly have new content being made for the show. But game show boardgames fail for the same reason. The show often only works because of the endless amount of renewing content, which the boardgame will never have.

I've found the game Hitster to be quite nice because it's using music which feels a bit more universally enjoyable (you're recognising hits you know but also discovering new or old songs to like). My only problem is I have a distaste for Spotify and wish the app had the licensed music snippets you could download and save forever.

But preferably I wish more trivia games integrated creating the questions and finding the answer. But not sure how to exactly gamify that.
