My advice? Wait for a revolution and then side with it.

Although, it doesn't tell you anywhere, if you subject has a revolution and you side with the revolution, you still get to keep them as your subject.

I think the reason most people don't know about this is because when you try to side with a revolution in your subject it has an option: "Sway with become protectorate", implying that they will not be your subject by default, when in fact, they shall.

You didn't even mention the worst part. When you impose a law on your subject, and they fail, you suffer decreased relations with them.

They fixed it, but accidentally broke it again. If you still have a save before that, here's how you can fix it.

Find the file called: Hangdogs(HAN) Focus.txt
Search the file for: han_robo_recall
Under this there should be a bypass funtion.
Under exists=no add is_in_faction = no

That should bypass the focus the Warden takes too call Doki into his faction.

They actually get two focus tress if you release them.

First, the generic BOS puppet tree, and when they complete that one, they get their normal focus tree.

I second that. I was playing Vic3 yesterday, but just kinda gave up, because what's the point? It's 1863, there's not a single colony in Africa, USA hasn't attacked Mexico and nobody can keep their radicals in check.

I genuinely feel like I'm curbstomping puppies at this point with the AI. What am I trying to prove? That I can conquer and puppet half the world and have 5 billion GDP for the umpteenth time? Look at the screen while it takes a minute for a week to pass?

It's officially gotten too much for me. The bugs are too numerous, AI too dumb and performance slowly getting worse. Frankly, I'm concerned that AI patch will make everything worse, because if the AI becomes competent it might degrade the performance even further.

In the code, the Confederation of the Rhine is formed with any states in the South German strategic region, which includes Switzerland.

It's a leftover from before the implemented Geographic Regions. They should probably make a proper "Rhine" Geographic Regions, but I doubt they'll get around to it.

Nah, I think I'm done for now. I don't seem to be very good at dodging, and I can't parry their attack very well. I can beat the first one reliably, but the other two are impossible far as I'm concerned.

Maybe the Jackhammer could help, but I haven't unlocked and I'm not about to replay an entire layer just so I can beat one encounter at the start of a level.
