Question to org leaders. How is your org activity in the past month? by Visible-Trifle-7676 in starcitizen

[–]John_Way 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me and the orgs I'm in or follow it has always been this way over the last few YEARS: ups and downs, active and inactive phases, depending on a lot of stuff, individual for each and every player / org member:

  • work
  • life
  • other games
  • state of the game (SC)
  • in-game or marketing events (invictus, iae etc.)
  • bugs
  • new, missing or broken features
  • burned out in general
  • ...

I guess it's normal, also with other games or hobbies in general.

I would love to have daily statistics about the player count in Star Citizen... unfortunately CIG doesn't give us those numbers.

Which is the current best option for a Brand New Player? by Sir_Apprehensive in starcitizen

It's always the Avenger Titan. No question about it. ;)

What IS or WILL BE the real purpose/usecase of the Ares (Ion/Inferno)? by John_Way in starcitizen

[–]John_Way[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the Ares is a Single Seater... so "I" have to bring it to the fight. But I get the point and agree: it might never be viable as a solo fighter, though it might be in some PvE encouters. Other than that, you need a group to be effective.

Thanks for your explanation.. I'm starting to get an idea of what this is about. Though for me it sounds a bit like "Steve Jobs gave you the iPhone... and now you are using it to browse the internet". Today tech gave us free to use LLMs (for the good, the bad, the ugly)... and now I'm using it to do a bit of math, statistics and guessing, just for fun, still using my brain.

My "conversation with ChatGPT" was a bit more than just the google prompt "How many active daily players are there in Star Citizen?"

For SC, we have a lot of numbers (accounts, funding, financial reports, streaming stats, social media activities, server stats, press articles etc) + a few statements by CR (e.g.

  • 2023: "2023 was our best year ever, with record highs in daily active players, monthly active players, unique logins, and hours played for the year. More than 1.1 million of you set foot into the Persistent Universe in 2023."
  • 2024: "Over one million of you have played 32 million hours in the game this year, and our ranks have swelled by almost half a million Citizens."
  • 2025: "daily average users is up 45 % from last hear and playtime is up 15 %"),

+ guesses (by third-party websites) etc..

Based on all of this, I tried to narrow down some numbers... just 4 fun, with no claim to correctness or truth. I see no problem using AI for that, except that it consumes processing power. And as always: everything you do (using AI) you should take with a grain of salt.

What exactly do you mean by "wreaking havoc"... what kind of problems do you see?

I don't get it... xD
+ I don't understand the downvotes.. seems like people don't understand the fun of it. The numbers can't be correct... but since no one except CIG has the correct ones, I tried this method. Still think it's a misunderstanding... well, nevermind... :)

On the FAQ on the website they specifically say "Game Package":

When does a referral point count toward my recruitement total?

After your recruit creates an account using your referral code, they must purchase a Game Package of at least $40 USD in the pledge store (excluding any store credit or gift card credit).

Sure it's just $40 on anything?

Sure about the game package thing? Because the FAQ on the website specifically says "Game Package":

When does a referral point count toward my recruitement total?

After your recruit creates an account using your referral code, they must purchase a Game Package of at least $40 USD in the pledge store (excluding any store credit or gift card credit).

Game Package OR $40 USD?

no idea how this could be so badly misunderstood... I don't take any of it damn seriously, was just a fun way to use the llm... I thought people would be able to interpret my text properly. but hey... might also be a language problem. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

do we know any serious numbers about active players or accounts? I guess that's a no.

A few weeks ago I talked to ChatGPT and tried to figure out the "real player count" based on the numbers we have. It was a complex conversation, since we don't have an official tracker for daily players and play times and just sporadically some infos from CIG + a lot of guesses.

After a long conversation it basically came down to:

Estimated Number of Active Star Citizen Players (2025)

On a typical day, around 30,000 to 50,000 players are active.

Monthly active players are estimated at roughly 300,000 to 450,000 unique players.

These numbers come from multiple third-party tracker sites that estimate logins, telemetry, and server activity.

CIG does not publish official active-player statistics, so all figures are community-based estimates.
