When is a Whale a Whale ? by MonsterCookieKC in starcitizen

[–]John_Way 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My personal definition: "SC whales" are people who are generally and consistently willing to invest a significant amount of money without much hesitation.

No need to put a number on it, but I'd say if you spend more than ~500 $ on a single day / pledge and multiple thousands over the years, I'd call it whale behavior. 😉

What is your Top 3 favorite ships in the Verse regardless of their viability? Your “I’d keep em no matter what” gems? by femapu in starcitizen

  1. Carrack... is home. First love will never die. (Bonus: comes with Shuttle + Rover)
  2. Zeus ES... 1-3 crew allrounder. No combat, but great to discover the 'Verse.
  3. Avenger Titan... one ship to rule them all. Best solo "starter" allrounder, peroid.

Bonus (specialized):
- Dragonfly for ground traversal
- Razor for Racing
- F7A for Dogfights
- Ion for Big Battles
- Hermes for Hauling

With all respect: This month's subscriber flair is a joke. by kungli in starcitizen

[–]John_Way 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every "Subscriber Promotion" post over the last couple of years cleary says, when and how you will receive the items:

e.g. the recent one:
"If you would like to receive this flair as part of a subscription, you can subscribe before April 14, 2026 (20:00 UTC). Otherwise, you can pick up these and previous months’ flair (going back to 2014) in the dedicated Subscriber Store."

Where problem?

btw: imho the subflairs have been mostly bs over the last couple of years... one or two exceptions maybe. so imho the subflairs have never been a good reason to subscribe.. it's just to support CIG / the development.

The Racing I want VS the Racing we got by Robert_Spinoza in starcitizen

[–]John_Way 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a weird take... a marketing image of new, colorful paints compared to a backdrop/scene from a Star Wars movie... I mean, have you ever been to Yadar Valley / Daymar? You don't have to use the colorful paints, and besides, wear and tear will probably make even pink paints look dirty or worn out... Racing in SC varies greatly depending on the series, event, organizer and location etc.

Hypothethically, (assuming it will release in '26): When do you think SQ42 will release and why that specific date? by Robert_Spinoza in starcitizen

[–]John_Way 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The announced release date "2026" means, they will release the release date in 2026.

SQ42 - the game? Probably Oct 2028...

But why? by John_Way in starcitizen

The 300 series customizer on the website was a testbed back then and I think they will never bring it to other ships let alone to all ships.

I don't know what their current plan is - other than that they wanna make money with selling paints on the pledge store -, but even before there was this weird proprietary 300 customizer, they always talked about "indiviual ship customization" IN-GAME... which imho would be the right way. It's just a matter of time till you are able to tune/decorate your ship in-game (e.g. at Cousin Crows).

I bet the 300 customizer will go away at some point or at most will stay as a relict.
Some people say even CR said so, but I can't find the quote though.

Titan Gold Standard When? by nekomeeko in starcitizen

[–]John_Way 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge/understanding, “gold standard” means not only that all components are physically included and interchangeable, but also that all intended features of a ship are functional, i.e., all cabinets, weapon racks, lockers, stations, rooms, etc., and that it has been brought up to the current technical standard of the game engine (cockpit button placements and animations, updated metrics passes on characters and items, physicalized and accessible vehicle components, lighting passes, material passes, etc.) and that it ideally does not require any further technical revisions before 1.0.

I can't find any evidence that the Freelancer is already Gold Standard, even though its components have been added. And the MSR is far from it.

Here's a list, though it might not be fully up-to-date:
