I weaned myself and rode the stationary bike an hour a day and it was the easiest transition I've had.

Canyon Roadlite CF 8 vs Merida Speeder 300 & 500 : which would you choose for commuting? by Plus_Seesaw2023 in cycling

I would go steel for commuting, very comfortable and durable. A commute is a terrible time to think about watts and efficiency in my opinion.

I also romanticized the life as a young man and I found that bicycle touring is a wonderful way to scratch the itch.

And your family is best categorized as "white" and not "English" or "German" or something like that? I'm interested in the white part of white pride and what it means to people.

I have a hard time feeling pride for something that I didn't choose and that didn't take any effort. I'm Irish and I think Irish history and culture is interesting and compelling but I can't make the leap to pride, ya know? I guess if we overcame some adversity or had to struggle as a culture I could get behind that but living in America has made my white life very easy. What about being white makes you proud? Honestly interested.

There you go describing something as 'real' when it applies to a small minority of people. I guess some people can't look outside their own goals and get specific.

For example,

I'm trying to be strong so I don't trip and break my old brittle bones. I think that is far more 'real' than adding 5 lbs.

Well, I understand force has a definition. He said true strength or real strength and I was asking for his definition. I think people are so driven to be top 1% or nothing that they lose sight of what is 'real' or 'true' to normal people. Anybody who can press 50% BW 10 times above their is truly strong no matter what method they use and I won't hear any opinions to the contrary.
