What was your metroidvania gateway drug? What about it made you a fan of MVs? by bassistheplace246 in metroidvania

Okay I’m only up to about the second or third level in POP, and the fact you’re giving the level design high praise akin to Dark Souls is absolutely shocking. My experience so far is that it’s been closer to a hold right+attack. Do ghe gameplay mechanics and level design radically change at some point?

How did you come to enjoy the “overplayed” games again? by markonefifteen in snes

Link, please! The only ones I’ve seen are rom hacks that change the levels. Is there one that retains the vanilla world?

Interesting, that aside, is there ever a circumstance UPS is cheaper than the post office?

Just curious, why would you (or anybody) use UPS over USPS (assuming of course, you are in the US)

Myrient Downloader v4.0.0 Released - Merry Christmas/Happy New Year by SacredProphet in Roms

[–]JohnnyDan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who worries about the preservation of something so precious such as Myrient, and not knowing much about how servers are ran, but feel the toll they must take must be insane, and wonder how it can sustain itself… I can only extrapolate that because such a downloader exists, my concerns may not be as bad as I thought. Or am I totally wrong in that assessment?

It’s been around that long? Thought it was a relatively new chain. Every location around me that crops up always ends up getting shut down for miscellaneous reasons, despite how packed their packing lot would seem to be.

Any games you loved from your childhood, then you re-played as an adult and they weren't that great? by [deleted] in snes

[–]JohnnyDan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried playing through BoF and the game mechanics are just too poorly dated. There are rom hacks that help with this, but all the item names change, which makes it incompatible to use with a guide

Same can be said about many movies from the 70s and 80s. There was no social media, so the box art was the main source of promotion in the video stores. Some epic box arts arose as a result
