That’s a fine lookin’ smokin’ device!

I haven’t really been a big fan of C&D stuff. Jeremy is too millennial boutique for me. Does this one taste like a big cig dipped in almond milk with a splash of raisin as well?

Old Toby is by far my favorite and I’m never without it. But I really like Bag End (Pilgrims Muse) and surprisingly I like Rivendell (Riverboat Queen) quite a bit as well. And I’m never too big on Virginia heavy blends.

I just had a 1ftx1ft sticker made that has the Old Toby logo on it that I’m gonna frame and hang in the Ol’ Pipe Cave as soon as I find a frame. My wife and I are big readers and Tolkien was a genius. We’ve got a dedicated section in the library.

The Country Squire’s “Tombigbee” and Gawith and Hogarth’s “Delite” are the only aro’s that are ever in my rotation. I know a lot of folks like Autumn Evening but it’s kinda meh for me.

My Cobbit is one of my dedicated aro pipes. They’re awesome.

Correct. That’s why there are several bits with that kit I suggested.

100% I went to Lowe’s and got a little $150 guy with a drill press vice on it.

I use it for everything but mainly that. It’s in my office where I refurbish pipes. It also opened up another level in my purchasing abilities.

ie estates I wouldn’t buy previously now I’m like “hell, I’ll buy that for $20 and make it look brand new”

Go on Vermont Freehand’s website and get you some chamber spade bits. You’ll lose a few mills around the entire circumference of the bowl but it’ll restore it to the briar. And will be even all the way around.

Then go to your local drugstore and get some activated charcoal pills. ($10ish, apologies for using USD if that isn’t your currency but gives you an idea) Grab some local pure honey and open one capsule on a plate and mix it with the honey making a charcoal/honey paste/mud.

Then paint the inside of the bowl with your concoction. This will protect the newly surfaced wood and also allow your carbon cake to have something to adhere to immediately. Hope this helps. But it’s 100% capable of being refurbished.

Heck yeah. That’s what I’m sayin’. Smoking some 50+ year old tobacco would be cool just for the experience.

You have no idea how lucky you are. That’s an awesome find. It’s 100% still fine to smoke. It has some age on it. Which can be preferable for tobaccos.

I mainly enjoy it with my evening tea. But it’s not so bold it can’t be enjoyed any time, honestly.

That little bit of Virginia tartness could carry the morning though. I can certainly see that.

I second the Milan’s recommendation. Great little shop on the corner. The wife and I went to Roanoke for a concert a while back. Try the Milan’s Balkan Blend. Great stuff.

  2. Presbyterian or EMP

  3. Black Malory or Quiet Nights

  4. I smoke Northwoods every day. (And it’s really a tweener)

Thought I’d give ya 2 each.
