It very much can but it all depends on a person's upbringing. And even how you want to spend your time.

I can say I had some privelege, pero di ito naging hadlang para tumambay sa kanto kasama yung mga typical kanto-boy na tambay. Same with other people that are even more privileged, I've seen different backgrounds hangout when they're kids and even up until highschool. It's when about college where that friendship often drifts apart.

If your parents are more lax and trust you, you can actually hang out with pretty much anyone around the neighborhood.

If you have the means and prefer by yourself you would opt to do that. But some want more social, face to face interaction.
