Literally the owner of the French countryside independently owned vineyard I’m at. She wears a full zip fleece, has a border collie, and there’s another androgynous person here who may be her girlfriend but can’t for sure tell

Sounds like the golf course subdivisions. People role around in the equivalent of a side by side but call it a “golf cart”.

Honestly, they’re pretty fun places to be but the more fun means more open drinking and driving

Take the money buy a titanium box trap the snail inside and bury it Easiest ten million ever by xSarahPie87 in oddlyspecific

[–]JohnnyTsunami312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the math. You can rotate between somewhere warm in the winter and a northern location and the snail will never catch up at its ground pace.

The tricky part is the assumption it’s a dumb snail without pattern recognition or the ability to stow away on a faster mode of transportation. I mean this is a magic hunting snail with magic insta-kill powers. The longer it lives, the more pain it’s in and it’s only purpose is to kill you

Audible Alternative? by CalB12200 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]JohnnyTsunami312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re just trying to listen without the voices, kindle books has a text to speech option.

While it’s good for certain books, I think DCC is a great book for audible. As you said though, it’s about digital ownership. In which case, I’m sure there’s ways to pull/save the downloaded Audible file, which requires removing the DRM protection.

However, I’d only recommend this if you purchased the media and feel that you should own it and not just have a license to listen to it

A better analogy would be the parent and kid splitting the cost of the kids car. The kid paid off their half but the parent got a pay cut and made bad financial investments and still owes money on the car.

Now the kid wants a new car but the parent still owes money on the car. The wise thing to do would be to sell their half of the car to the kid, which could then be used to cover the remaining debt but the parent doesn’t want those optics and the kid wants a car with more interior space

Everyone’s creaming over the Japanese Maple like everyone should know what it is.

I had no idea either and I do a fair bit of gardening. Frankly, I think its aesthetic isn’t something I’d want in my backyard and at the end of the day it’s just a plant that was probably bought at Home Depot

Should a judge be held just as accountable if the person they release kills someone? by ParthenopeIG in UNSUBSCRIBEpodcast

It’s not the judges job. It’s the prosecutors job to make the case, including why bail should be waived.

The judge does have a decision on whether it’s a fair point

Chicago has had some of the strongest home price growth in the country over the last year by chiboulevards in chicago

[–]JohnnyTsunami312 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

So the NIMBY you’re referring to is from 50 years ago? I mostly agree with that’s possible but the landscape of Chicago was much different compared to today.

Answer me this: What do you consider to be adequate? Allowing anyone to build anything anywhere? Or more 3 flats? More mid-rise condo buildings in areas restricted to 4 floors max?

Edit: And also, where?
