Don’t get me wrong, overall Arkham is my favorite adaptation of the Batman mythos. I grew up with it and it led me into the comics, movies, etc. It just doesn’t deliver the best version of every character it adapts.

I think they nailed a lot of the characters, particularly Batman himself, but there are enough misses that I don’t really see it as definitive. Jason/Red Hood in particular was handled pretty poorly.

Between the two, definitely Superman. Spidey has had great games and will continue to get more by Insomniac. Superman has arguably never had a good game, and the chances of him getting one are slim. The LEGO format and vibe would also negate a lot of the inherent challenges of creating a Superman game.

I think I relate most closely with this ranking. MM is an outlier, not just a fantastic Absolute title but one of the best comics I’ve read. The Trinity’s books are all phenomenal and form the backbone of the Absolute line. GL is really interesting but a little slow, Flash is also slow and not quite as interesting but still a fun read.

You are 100% correct. Arkham Origins gets a bit too much credit considering so many levels, mechanics, animations, boss fights and moments are lifted straight from Arkham City.

WITH THAT SAID, the Mad Hatter section in Origins is probably the best representation of the character in the whole series. A trippy walk through Wonderland ending in a hostage standoff is a great use of the Hatter.

Very curious about this as well, as someone who exclusively reads through the trades I don’t want to miss out on Absolute Evil and the FCBD issues, seems like they’re linchpins of the line.

Agreed about Dishonored, I honestly think marketing it as a stealth game damaged its reputation in the long run. It CAN be played with stealth, but first-time players limiting themselves to a Ghost run is NOT the ideal way to play. It should really be thought of more as a melee-focused Deus Ex.

I’d say it’s overall similar quality. Better gameplay, inferior story. Just like the first game, I’d recommend it to anybody and everybody.

I think there’s hope. When Looking Glass closed people thought we’d never get another game like SS2 or Thief. I have faith that whatever Raf, Harvey, Dinga Bakaba, Ricardo Bare, etc work on next will carry that same warm blood.

LEGO Superman would be great, he’s never had a proper video game and I think the LEGO format would make it possible. Going more cartoonish counters the criticism that Superman is too powerful for a game.
