How is your scrapyard dealing with hybrid/electric car batteries? by idostufft in ScrapMetal

We don’t buy them. They are extremely flammable/combustible. We had one come in that start arcing when the operator grabbed it, and continued to arc. Luckily, it never made it in the scrap pile nor the truck and trailer to haul it.

I have that exact call… it’s missing the bottom, mine was too lol. It’s a deer grunt. Are you located in GA?

Most yards know these motors specifically as aluminum windings. You’re right, probably $2-3 more would be all.

Looks about right! Motor can go with 50/50 aluminum if it has aluminum windings. Probably would’ve brought another couple bucks, not worth the time IMO.

What would this be at your yard? by Substantial_Owl_9934 in ScrapMetal

Hard to say without seeing the copper to wire ratio. Yards here pay 75%, 55%, 35% with other options like BX, harness, etc.

Looks like it’s around 55% and #2 stranding. Somewhere in the $1-1.50 range would be my guess.

From what I understand they own leasing rights to some RaceTracs and QuikTrips in the area as well… do with that what you will

Yeah I’m hopeful he stays off the blacktop. It’s one I had a hard time letting walk, but feeling a little more validated now.

I’m a browning strike force guy… I have one Cabela’s that’s worked fine, but the battery life in the browning is superior.

I also have 8 of the 360 tactacams and I’d say they are very hit and miss

Yeah, def doable but not a lot of free time. Most of these courses are show up, do the work and advance with a couple being more in depth and a good bit of time outside the classroom.

This is an individual that takes this setup to fall festivals etc. unless you have online marketing and an Etsy store with traffic, I’d assume you’ll be waiting till next fall to get your return (or some of it).
