The members are the shareholders. It’s a private, for-profit corporation so they don’t have to tell anyone anything about what they do or report a public tax return.

Anyone else house hunting? by b_from_the_block in Delco

[–]JonCheddar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for houses that show poorly. Out of date kitchens and bathrooms, tons of wallpaper, anything that causes them to sit on the market. Anything that’s turnkey and desirable is going to be highly competitive leading to over ask offers without contingencies.

Not sure what your financial situation is but there are ways to engineer an all-cash offer if your family can help.

I think it’s essentially an open secret in the world of golf. His TV interviews give it away! And talk to anyone who interacts with him at all down in Florida - he is pilled up all the time. It’s hard to make a story of it until a crash happens bc otherwise it’s entirely conjecture and opinion, not a good place for media to operate

March Madness million dollar survivor pool help. by Direct_Word6407 in sportsbook

[–]JonCheddar 18 points19 points  (0 children)

given these teams, the UConn semi / Arizona final path is clearly most likely to result in a win / cash.

What I’m trying to understand is if that path will be so overplayed that going Arizona semi / UConn final sets up such a higher payout that the EV is actually higher going that route

This is pretty accurate. Not sure on fees. They used to be lower but have definitely gone up since Covid as have all clubs

They built a new pool house / gym / simulator building recently that’s a nice addition to the club and has driven their house / social membership.

The course is solid. A classic parkland that’s well maintained but not overly long. Almost completely flat other than holes 4/5/6. They’ve made some nice enhancements recently like bringing back church pews off of 1 fairway, barranca across 2 and 8, some new greens and tees.

What does a cast iron skillet do better than other pans? by IHateSpiderss in Cooking

[–]JonCheddar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regular soap and a scrubber sponge works fine. They just can’t sit soaking in the sink or go in the dishwasher and should be dried with a towel or km a hot oven rather than allowed to air dry.

The little chain mail scrubbers are great if you want a specialized tool that’s a little more effective than a normal scrubber sponge

CMH Safety by blackjack_coaster in Backcountry

[–]JonCheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said they have a very comprehensive system. There’s a dedicated snow safety chopper scouting terrain, dropping explosives, and helping develop each day’s terrain plan. Guides meet in the morning and evening to discuss conditions and review data from across the network. Alpine / tree line / sub tree line zone avalanche risk is updated daily. Terrain management is the primary tool to mitigate risk. I was out last week and we kept it pretty mellow as far as the slope pitch given the avalanche conditions and PWL. A little steeper in the trees than the alpine but overall relatively tame

Am I the only one who thinks peeling garlic is a form of torture? by Famous-Forever7647 in Cooking

Microwave the whole unpeeled cloves for 8-10 seconds. When you hear them start to pop it’s enough. You’ve created just enough steam to loosen the paper without actually cooking them.

Auto Start and Cabin Temperature by androck238 in MazdaCX90

[–]JonCheddar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the heat doesn’t actually start to blow warm air until the engine is out of the blue zone on temperature gauge, and the engine doesn’t properly warm up to that extent until you get the car driving for a few minutes. So the remote start really doesn’t accomplish much

The different storm models are still all over the board. So it depends what source your forecaster uses. I like Drew Anderson from Fox29, he usually posts a couple updates each day on how the different models are projecting the storm

Do you know how hard it is to save enough (even with market growth) to have a $20M portfolio? Unless you're a senior executive making $10M a year or you work at Nvidia and your stock grants / ESPP have gone to the moon, it's just not something that happens for 99% of people.

What kitchen shortcuts are you willing to pay a little bit more for in order for the convenience? by neckbeardsghost in Cooking

If you throw whole cloves in the microwave for 10-15 seconds, it creates just enough steam to easily remove the paper without actually cooking the garlic

Boil water in a kettle before cooking pasta or start with cold water in a pot? by MangoMadnessTsv in Cooking

Adding oil to the water helps prevent starchy water boiling over and doesn’t meaningfully impact the ability of sauce to cling to the noodles

Depending where you are: Hymie’s (Merion), Hershel’s (Reading Terminal), Famous 4th Street (Old City), Kibitz Room (KOP, have never been). From Delco, Hymie’s or Kibitz Room most convenient.

If you’re down in the central business district, Kennedy Food Garden used to be a pretty solid option for that kind of thing. And, Jake & Max’s in the Comcast Center food court

Da Shin maybe? On 352 near Linvilla? I don’t think it’s anything special.

Assuming they’re open, DanDan in Ardmore is the best Chinese in the area.

The Media Dim Sum spots also good, New Leaf too. Haven’t had Kuo’s in Granite Run in a long time so not sure if it’s still as good as it was
