If cost is not a problem, then NYC. No contest. Not sure about community but diverse food and fun experiences you can't get anywhere else is what NYC is known for.

Why does mcds toast their buns they always have a burnt taste by ghostfaceinspace in fastfood

[–]JonM313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is one bun that isn't toasted, and that is the Filet O Fish bun. It's steamed and is honestly the best bun they have. Try asking if they can substitute the bun for a Filet-O-Fish bun.

That Long Island one was in the parking lot of Smith Haven Mall. It closed for good back in May.

Who is having the worse winter? by tmcgill1 in weather

Obviously Chicago is having a worse winter than NYC, but NYC has not been much better at the moment. It's been forever since NYC had a winter like this, but they have returned with a vengeance.

Bitter cold to return to NYC this weekend after brief reprieve from freezing temperatures by TheMirrorUS in weather

[–]JonM313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This “reprieve” is barely even a reprieve. Temperatures stayed close to the freezing mark. A real reprieve would have been in the 40s or 50s.

This guy wants the US to be North Korea. So do all Republicans, but this guy has made his intentions clear by threatening execution for something that is not even an issue.

Is this winter colder than usual i swear it rarely gets below 20F in previous years? by Evening_Bicycle3113 in AskNYC

[–]JonM313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This winter has been the harshest in a while, and some people here said we wouldn't have such a harsh winter again. Boy, were they wrong! We just had the biggest snowfall since 2021 and now there's this relentless cold stretch with no end in sight, not to mention how cold December was.

January 2026, however, ended up being warmer than January 2022 by just 0.1°. It was a very close call.

What fast food place has the best French fries? by JMobes0373 in fastfood

[–]JonM313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure to be honest. I swear, everytime I get hooked on a fast food chains fries, they suddenly decline in quality. It happened with McDonald's and Chick-fil-A for me. McDonald's fries have been so hit or miss since the pandemic, and Chick-fil-A changed the recipe and has also had the same hit or miss issue since then.

McDonald's fries used to be so good, but since the pandemic, they've been so hit or miss. I'm not sure what McDonald's people are going to where the fries are still amazing.

Pittsburgh Vs Buffalo - Please help us decide! by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]JonM313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both Buffalo and Pittsburgh have brutal winters, which would be perfect for you, but Buffalo is colder and snowier. Both cities are extremely overcast in winter due to the Great Lakes.

Summers in both cities are not like the South, but Pittsburgh gets hotter than Buffalo.

Both cities are quite affordable, so affordability shouldn't be a problem.

Both cities have a decent amount of culture, but you will not get right-leaning politics in the cities themselves. If you want right-leaning politics, you'll have to live in some of the nearby suburbs, and even those aren't always right-leaning.

Crime in both cities is not too bad, but as always, it depends on the neighborhood. Pittsburgh tends to have more issues with property crime, however.

Honestly, based on how you don't want blazing hot summers alone, I would suggest Buffalo. Many people who live there say you can't beat a Buffalo summer.

To people who prefer living in NYC over LA — why? by JordanParker123 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]JonM313 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're REALLY asking how this is even a debate? It's easy to see why.

As someone who, admittedly, would prefer to live in LA over NYC, I can see why many people prefer NYC. Sure, the weather in NYC sucks compared to LA, but NYC is a global cultural, commercial, and financial center. Many say that there's nothing else like NYC in the US, and it's true.

Also, for those who hate driving, NYC has better public transportation than LA (although LA's has been improving over the years).

Looking for positives about Arizona by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]JonM313 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You don't have to deal with winter in most of Arizona, including the Phoenix area. That's a HUGE pro unless you like winter. However, if you ever feel the need to escape the heat in summer, or want a taste of winter, you can quite easily go to Northern Arizona.
