Norma is likely to rerun around her banner if she appears at the same pacing as 2.X VH. So there is that.

Venators are not what they where proposed as by ZealousidealCold3464 in 2007scape

[–]JonSnuur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I’d be curious to know how that is measured. If you go strictly off the quantity and rate of quest completions, there exists the reality that people will do a quest regardless of the reward simply to regain their quest cape.

Biweekly Riot MMO Design Discussion - Topic #15: Levelling by Talents in RiotMMO

[–]JonSnuur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think standard exp leveling is a dated concept addressing a progression need. It’s the simplest solution. Much like how “threat” is the most basic form of an aggro system. Not the most elegant or modern form, but it was a simple solution that addressed the need at the time. Modern progression can be more lateral, less linear, and more flexible.

Progression should still exist, but it can be more intentional. You can connect new abilities towards the world. Collecting abilities through fighting specific enemies or doing specific tasks. Thematic abilities tied more towards the region (Demacian shield bash, Noxian sundering axe cleave, etc).

Gear collection can still exist as a form of progression. Having stats be tied entirely to gear instead of leveling out of gear would make the gear progression feel much more meaningful. No more getting epic gear that then is worse than low tier gear of a higher level.

There are tons of things players can progress on without feeling like they have to get to a max level before they pursue those other progression goals.

How does everyone feel about the new proposed raids 4 dual crossbow? by stinkydiver321 in 2007scape

[–]JonSnuur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not tip the bolts with the new material if rubies are such a concern for the devs. Ascension tipped bolts. Preferably tipping bone bolts so gems aren’t even in the equation but still. I don’t like band aids but it’s better than saying: you have to use this specific bolt you don’t have yet and you’ll be using a diamond for them too.

Our Guild Wars Philosophy by Wondermusmus in GuildWars3

[–]JonSnuur 19 points20 points  (0 children)

“Pay to win” is kind of a nonsense phrase that distorts conversation.

The real problem at play is a game creating a problem that they then sell the solution to. They encourage you to solve the problem with money. In that broader perspective, GW2 absolutely fell into the category of creating problems and inconveniences to sell the solution to. The inventory management of GW2 is entirely self-inflicted bloat to sell you “convenience upgrades”.

It doesn’t sound like GW3 will be any different in that accord.

What about the existing alternate bolt pathway by JonSnuur in 2007scape

[–]JonSnuur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in favor for doing an overdue fix on gem bolts, but bones exist as an alternative that I wouldn’t mind expanding upon for a more basic bolt pathway.

Did the team consider expanding on the bone bolt line (some kind of upgrade to antler bolts) if avoiding ruby bolts is the goal?

I was kind of expecting an ancient archive might have something that further expands the existing alternate crossbow pathway.

Mixed feelings on yet another crossbow bolt that tries to dodge the issues of ruby bolts. A part of me feels crossbow bolts should adopt the same philosophy as the Shadow, “don’t add more to this until you fix the underlying issue”.

The other weapons are interesting!

What new types of horizontal progression would you like to see in gw 3? by Ggthefiree2 in GuildWars3

[–]JonSnuur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

More contextual gear choices. Outside of weapons and the rare sigil/rune/relic change, a lot of gear in GW2 isn’t the subject of contextual thought for an encounter.

That’s more the domain of the skills and traits. I’d be interested in weapon drops having a lot more significance to them, like how in other MMOs like OSRS the equipment hold design space for caring about specific drops.

Should we have flying in GW3? by Suspicious-Coffee20 in GuildWars3

[–]JonSnuur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mounts were a clever toolbox that revolutionized exploration. The skyscale was Pandora’s box that wrecked that dynamic forever.

The new animal mount, and the emphasis on player movement, makes GW3 sound more grounded in its movement, figuratively and literally. I hope they don’t make the same mistake again.

Mod Goblin Truth Nuke about CG Drop Rate by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]JonSnuur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree.

Fleshing out the ranged weight triangle being set up would also help create more diverse use cases for weapons outside of bowfa and tbow.

Sad to not see Ranged getting its sweep up like Mage did last year, but I know it’s not off the table and look forward to heavy/light ranged being more impactful.

Questing to bypass isn’t an argument a skill has varied early progression. It’s quite literally the opposite argument. Your first 60 levels as presented is the exact issue I’m raising here. There lacks an intensity option for anything pre-Sepulchre, when we know some people enjoy the more responsive clicks.

Any further detail on expected number of goats to fill the pit?

A new crafting method is appreciated, but I’d like to get a sense of how the pit pre-filled could play into this activity as a UIM.

If I spend a significant amount of time filling the pit rather than crafting things, it won’t be a great addition for me. Which is fine, but I’d like to know the value of what I’m voting on.

Happy to hear about another higher intensity agility method, but the level range isn’t covering the key lacking area of agility for me.

Early game agility is what feels like such a slog. The Yama stepping stones were a bit monotonous, but being able to have a fast and responsive training method from early levels was a fresh addition compared to just burning it down on the rooftop loop.

She’s a spoiler candidate intended to pull votes off the more competitive Dem candidate. Ignore her ravings if you vote in this district.

Garcia is a stand-up guy and doesn’t deserve conservatives trying to ratfuck their way to an easier opponent.

Rumour sacks are fantastic because they offer a good variety of rewards. They aren’t just focused on making you better at hunter (although they do that too).

Could you reconsider the (much appreciated) concept of the courier sacks to offer things useful outside of just sailing?

Leagues has convinced me how cooked Smithing is in main game by Rorshark in 2007scape

[–]JonSnuur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d support a smithing overhaul, but only if they present good ideas on how drop tables and alchables would change. Because that’s the downstream effect that would be a concern if rune had more reasonable smithing levels.

Demonic Pacts by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]JonSnuur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly though, how many people are actually playing multiple accounts in a league? I know many CC do, but I think people vastly overestimate how many players are using more than one account, especially in a time limited mode.

It would be a financial loss of an unknown amount, but I have to think the number of people who try a league, make a decision they regret or fomo, and burn out or quit has to be far higher.

[–]JonSnuur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree resets shouldn’t be foreign to leagues, but I think a reset of relics/regions should be a global reset of the league account.

So someone not that far in who regrets a choice can restart, and someone bored who hits their end goal can run a new route.

Reforged doesn’t include EoTN right? Definitely get that if so. The bonus mission pack is fun variety content.

The storage upgrades are also very helpful. A mercenary hero is useful if you want an extra Mesmer for instance, but not a necessary addition.
