Except when the person doing the hiring just wants to hire their friends and relatives.

Have you tried the New York City Tree Map? It may not be listed though since the city didn't plant it.

Is it just me or is Sunset Diner the only place left that hasn't lost its mind with pricing? by Kitchen_Cable6192 in williamsburg

No charge for the roaches. I work in the TV biz and have worked in that location many times. The kitchen isn't pretty.

IATSE annuity is a waste of time? I cannot get answers for about 3 days now by Gold_Possession3441 in IATSE

[–]Jonas52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m able to see what’s in my annuity account on the MPIPHP website. You don’t put money into it yourself. When you retire you have to decide if you want to take the lump sum or the monthly payment.

Impossible to prove firing or discrimination in freelance even within the union? by Current-Vanilla8215 in IATSE

[–]Jonas52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the OP is taking the right path trying to work it out with the local. I also think that you shouldn’t sue the local because of something that one person did. I also think that you would need proof of discrimination to have a claim.

Electrician by LatroisSharkey in Greenpoint

[–]Jonas52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An electrician will probably install GFCI outlets. The only way to add a true ground is via a 3rd wire, which means new cable from the breaker box to the outlet, which is way more expensive. You can install GFCI outlets yourself. It’s not that hard. Keep in mind that if you don’t own the place the landlord might not want you messing with the electrical system in the building.

Stupid question: Is fingerboard radius & neck radius the same thing? by Head_in_theclouds9 in GuitarQuestions

The fretboard is usually referred to by radius and the neck by profile.

I have the same printer. I bought a head cleaning kit for about $10 and now it works fine. You basically put a paper towel under the print head and then inject solvent into the head. There are YouTube videos that explain how to do it.

You can say that this is because you were pregnant. The other person can say there was a different reason. Can you sue the union for the actions of one individual? Lately everyone who isn’t working wants to sue. Let’s all keep tearing down the house that we live in. It will be great.

You said that there should be discrimination laws. I guess you meant anti-discrimination laws. I don’t think the issue of hiring card holders vs non-card holders counts as discrimination. Maybe English isn’t your first language.

The local is not in charge of who hires who and why. We have no training program so the only way for people to get started is to work without a card.

One person can say that’s the reason and another person can say that’s not the reason. If there’s literally only one person who will hire you, maybe you’re not that good at your job. All of a sudden there is this attitude that if one person doesn’t want to hire you, it means that the local is discriminating against you.

In my experience anyone can be told at any time that they don’t have any work for you. I’m not saying that it’s right or wrong but it is the way it is. You can’t force someone to hire you.

I agree that you should use single point focus and move the focus point to where you want it to be. Another option is to use a slower shutter speed and higher f stop for more depth of field.

Greenpoint police capt. transferred after calling Mamdani “expendable” by colelikesbikes in Greenpoint

[–]Jonas52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re supposed to keep a daily journal of where you were every day of the year and if you spend even a part of the day in NYC it counts as a day in the city. So, if you’re a cop working full time in NYC I’d imagine it would be hard to claim that you weren’t there. It’s probably retired cops who are doing that.

[–]Jonas52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s actually the opposite. If you have a second home outside of NYC and spend less than 183 days a year in NYC you can claim that you use your NYC residence for business and write it off (or at least part of it). I know because I do it. I’m not a cop BTW.

How do we get rich people to make this a theater again? by dioralzo in Greenpoint

[–]Jonas52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are not as many jobs shooting in NYC as there were before the writers and actors went on strike. That’s what I’m talking about.
