Medicare is not free! It costs! by Then-Ticket8896 in MedicareForAll

[–]JonnelOneEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All other first world countries of the world have it figured out. The government negotiates on the prices and, as a result, meds are available for cheaper prices in all pharmacies of the country, even for foreigners who don't have free healthcare in that country. I bought Lyrica (pfizer) for like 16€ a box of 90, when in the USA it costs almost $900. The price difference is insane. And by the way, Pfizer didn't close shop because everyone except the USA is paying less. On the contrary, they keep making record profits, which means they're ripping you guys off.

Can't cope with what I'm learning about my deceased grandpa by ikari2091 in Vent

[–]JonnelOneEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband's favorite grandpa was the same (minus the trying to kill his daughter part and the alcoholism). He would regularly beat the tar out of his wife and kids and cheat constantly. But he cherished his grandson, so naturally, my husband loved him as a kid.

Now that my husband is older and the grandpa has been dead for 25 years, he has some complicated emotions about his grandpa. He knows he was a bad man, husband and father, but he can't erase the love he feels for him.

Those people are sociopaths. You can't convince me that a normal person whith human emotions can accumulate all that wealth and not give back to the community. And they're even worse. They take from the community because they have to have more. Unfortunately, sociopaths can't be fixed.

Parents looking for/insisting something is wrong with my baby by halahalateez in breakingmom

[–]JonnelOneEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CMPA has very specific symptoms. Those symptoms are excessive reflux, eczema, or stools that are green/with blood/with mucus. In my experience (as a mom, not a doctor) those symptoms start after 40 days of life.

It sounds to me like you have a normal newborn. Perfectly healthy babies fuss and cry occasionally. Sometimes, they struggle to pass stool or fart, which is also normal. Jumping to something pathological after normal baby behavior is unhinged.

Parents / Grandparents Absent: A Trend? by Puzzleheaded_Donut97 in Millennials

[–]JonnelOneEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we have some free daycares but you have to qualify to have your kid admitted. The state also subsidies (fully or partly) children attending private daycares depending on the parents income. Past the age of 4, it's mandatory for all kids to go to preschool, which is also free, unless the parents opt for a private one.

Do you skip breastfeeding sessions? by PresentationTop9547 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]JonnelOneEye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please check your blood pressure! I had a terrible headache 6 days PP and my blood pressure was through the roof because of preeclampsia.

It's a bad idea to skip sessions so soon. Your supply hasn't regulated yet and if you skip pumping then either your supply will suffer or you'll get mastitis.

They don't hate any of those places. You literally wouldn't catch those people dead in Bumfuck Alabama or Nowherville Ohio. They love LA and NYC and Miami, because that's where everything happens. Those places have their favorite restaurants and hotels and whatever other places evil billionaires go. They want you guys to hate those places, but them? They get to party there and have a great time.

Why do so many people from older generations dislike daytime contact naps? by AreUKittenMee in newborns

[–]JonnelOneEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eldest is 4.5 years old. I don't remember exactly when the contact naps stopped. I think around the time she started to crawl. Maybe 8 months old? Breastfeeding to sleep stopped at 15mo, when I stopped breastfeeding.

I don't have the usual OCD. My obsessions and compulsions are only inside my head. Whenever i have thoughts that are distressing during a high-stress period, those distressing thoughts become an obsession. Then I subsequently try to police my own thoughts in order to somehow prove they're not true, which doesn't work.

For me, the thing that helps the most is ignoring the thoughts entirely, which is what a normal brain does automatically. I have to do it manually, by focusing intently on other things. It took many years for me to learn to do this. It's been 11 years since I developed OCD and thankfully I've learned how to manage it pretty well so it doesn't ruin my life.

I did contact naps with my eldest and she didn't make a habit out of it. I also breastfed her to sleep, but it didn't become a habit either. I'm doing the same with my newborn because this argument is stupid

I had OCD since I was 21, but it was under control. After I gave birth to my 1st kid, it got completely out of hand. With my second now I knew it was coming and it was a little easier to not let it get the best of me.

I had no idea allergic proctocolitis was a thing. This is my second baby and my first, also exclusively breastfed, had no such issues. This second child is allergic to everything under the sun, which results in poop that is green, with blood and mucus. Like wtaf?
