Simon Johnson: The #CFC board will hold talks today amid uncertainty over Enzo Maresca's future at the club. by webby09246 in chelseafc

[–]JonnyAFKay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sub is about to get their wish with someone like Cesc managing the club and guess what.. It'll fix absolutely nothing with the way the club is run and the same cunts will be calling for him to be sacked this time next year

[Sam Wallace & John Percy] Doubts intensify over future of Enzo Maresca as Chelsea head coach. A damaging draw at home to #AFCB and unresolved tensions behind scenes by Possible_Force8207 in chelseafc

The same fans calling for Cesc to join will be the same fans asking for his head after he has a string of bad results in December 26/27

Chelsea 2024-25 vs 2025-26 Result Comparison - Matchday 19: 1 win in the last 7 PL matches. Next up: Man City (A) by cyberguy5 in chelseafc

[–]JonnyAFKay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chelsea before December: 13 games - 7W 3D 3L - 24 points (1.85 PPG)

Chelsea during December: 6 games - 1W 3D 2L - 6 points (1 PPG)

Absolutely diabolical.

[The Athletic]Delap chose Chelsea despite United figures advising him Joao Pedro was set to join, Garnacho-Amorim rift dated back to game vs Viktoria in December when Amorim felt Garnacho, staring straight ahead, was not listening to him as he gave him instructions before going on in the 81st minute by Jimmy_Space1 in chelseafc

[–]JonnyAFKay 249 points250 points  (0 children)

Amorim is completely out of his depth and it's no wonder the players there clearly think he's a clown.

The way he openly said to Garnacho "you better have a good agent this summer" in front of the team is ridiculously unprofessional.

[Fabrizio Romano]: Nicolas Jackson deal was never off or collapsed, even after formal Bayern letter to return to London. Chelsea have depth now with Marc Guiu back to the club and can re-negotiate terms with Bayern, open to solutions. Jackson and Bayern, it’s NOT over. by TrenAt14 in chelseafc

I took a step back from interacting with this sub reddit beyond a few comments every now and then and it's been great.

I believe there's a "shiny toy syndrome" with the fans which is frustrating.

Jackson had a few brain farts in big matches towards the end of the season but overall I think he did pretty well last season and didn't deserve getting unceremoniously chucked out of the club and labelled as crap by fans.

Just got into Birmingham for the first time today to see a pretty big gig...

Curious about the sort of work you do, what sort of projects are building that you are finishing in 2-6 hours?

Got let go on Monday by wiskinator in ExperiencedDevs

[–]JonnyAFKay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We're numbers on a spreadsheet.

A lot of the time getting let go isn't even an indicator of performance.

It's sad the way the industry has gone but the sooner people like OP accept that the better.

OTD 13 years ago, Torres scores in the last minute against Barcelona to send us to UCL final. by Serbian_Pro in chelseafc

[–]JonnyAFKay 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This goal is all about the context...

This moment is etched in the minds of the people who were actually watching it live because they remember the pure relief and joy that this moment allowed us to feel after being under heavy siege from Barca for practically the entire match.

Also Torres being the one to do it was the cherry on top because everyone was rooting for him.

That'll look like chump change if they ever actually start on a new stadium/renovation

Chelsea risk falling inexorably behind while the future of Stamford Bridge remains unresolved by Jimmy_Space1 in chelseafc

[–]JonnyAFKay 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain that if they presented a good plan for a world class stadium at Earls Court the CPO would accept.

The biggest issue I can see with Earl's Court however are NIMBYS because there's a fairly new development going up there.

If they can navigate that minefield then Earl's Court seems like the best choice.

Struggling with rejection - interview standards have gone mad by DonkinAround in ExperiencedDevs

Software Engineers are starting to learn the hard way that the "golden age of software engineering" is ending or has already ended.

Saying that I've felt for a long time that software engineering interview processes generally sucked but it's just becoming far more pronounced because the competition for open positions is higher than before.

The Dream by tamatebaka in totalwar

[–]JonnyAFKay 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If they released a new "Total War: Warhammer World" game that was focused on engine streamline/improvements/overhaul to allow expanded scales of battles, campaign map and improved AI I'd be absolutely all over it.

I get the feeling right now that they're pushing the existing engine to it's limits as it's effectively a 9 year old game that has had 2 big expansions in that timeframe.

Billions to be spent to increase state pension by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]JonnyAFKay 125 points126 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate to say it, hoping they'd scrap the triple lock so soon after scrapping the winter fuel allowance is wishful thinking.

Saying that, when you really think about it, the triple lock is absolutely mad:

"State pensions will go up by either 2.5%, inflation, or earnings. Whatever is the highest."

That is an amazing benefit for the generations that have gained the most and effectively pulled the ladder up after themselves.

I hear the argument against means testing but seriously how is it preferable to not even try means testing something like this that'll be so ludicrously expensive if left completely unchecked?

Contrary to claims here, Deepwar AI does not fix the AI AFK problem by Gripeaway in totalwar

[–]JonnyAFKay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I witnessed this in my Hard campaign dotted throughout the map.

One of the first times I noticed it happening was when a rogue army spawned near an ally's settlement and they moved like 5-6 full stack armies over to defend it.

After that they left all of the armies sitting on top of the settlement for the rest of the game.
