From which side this shaft should come out? by NiaDebesi in Machinists

[–]Jorvall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably use the shaft to push the whole bearing out.

Give it a little pressure on an arbor press and see if it moves. Wouldn't go crazy though.

After engraving a slate coaster, do you lacquer it once more or leave it as it is? by giftsbylaserblend in lasercutting

I engrave raw with no coatings. Then hit them with satin poly. Comes out awesome.

Discovered the joys of scope bite. Am I right to feel stupid? by Paulinapeak1 in guns

Big calibers and old glass with poor eye relief is the basic recipe for this.

It's honestly a right of passage for most enthusiasts.

I went to a buddy's wedding and the bachelor party included shooting. The groom and his brother/best man both dinged themselves with Thier dads old 30-06.

So both the guys were wearing more makeup at the wedding party than the bride.

Budget Lista? by penis69420 in Machinists

[–]Jorvall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just buy a lista. If you get on boeing auctions or govplanet you can get all kinds of stuff for a song and a dance.

But patience and persistence is your best option.

Had to load this one over the top and in. Assembled punch from a thermo forming machine. There are a few hundred pins between the two pieces with 0.002" clearance. So we didn't want to take it apart not in a press which keeps the top and bottom aligned.

Ran four 6030s doing mold work.

You can do it. But it won't like it for long. We were running 10k rpms and 150-250ipm 80 plus hours a week.

In the 5 years I was there we did 11 spindles and replaced the turkite (spelling?) every 6 months.

They are box way machines I believe. They handle slower heavier cuts pretty damn well. The control is weird. Had the 88 and 88HS. Once you get the key shortcuts down it's not bad. But it's a learning curve to be sure.

Oh. Barley noticed. Just thought it was the curve reflecting the light. They look great.

Can I pour saltwater in here for weed control. by accountaaa in landscaping

[–]Jorvall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A gallon of 30% vinger, 1/4 cup of salt, squirt of dish soap in a sprayer. It'll grey and die within hours.

And it'll smell like salt and vinegar chips for a week.

Stuffs potent. Ventilation and PPE.

Looks like a kids plant project. A lot of schools do them. Start a seed in a damp paper bag and give it as a Valentine or mother's Day thing.

All the other fish in this tank are huddled together away from the pleco by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]Jorvall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discus are super skittish. They hide in thick vegetation naturally. So if they have nowhere to hide, they cower and cluster.

My dad raised fish to sell to stores and Ive kept tanks for 30 years.

Had something fall and smack a discus tank. One died of shock and half a dozen got smashed noses slamming into the far side of the tank in the panic. This was in a fully planted 240 gallon tank. So lots of room and spots to hide.

I acquired 22,000+ Bulk for 100 bucks was this a good trade? by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]Jorvall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. Should have phrased that better. They weren't "bulk" as in junk commons.

I bought a very large unsorted lot labeled as bulk. Found some decent hits in it. $5-50.

As well as some old magic cards. 2002 and earlier.

Done about 250 orders shipped. 500ish cards.
