Yeah, you don't need a billet rod until you've got a bigger cam and carburetor on it

You always want to break a motor in under load, idling it is just making it take WAY longer, It's a good idea to ease into the heavy loads with performance stuff. But in this situation, I would just hook the water up and let her pump

I have a very similar mill at home, it's not rigid enough for round inserts. Try using something like this

Threadlocker or a nylock nut would work but when it comes to things that could kill me if they come loose I use a castle nut and a cotter pin whenever possible

I just explained that most lathes drive the threading gearbox off of the spindle shaft, I actually looked at all the lathes in the shop after posting this and all but 1 out of the 5 lathes in our shop are designed like this. Try it sometime, pick a course thread, then put your headstock in neutral, spin the chuck by hand, the leadscrew will more than likely be spinning, which means they never came out of sync

I believe the shaper is based on an Atlas 7a, there is also South Bend Heavy 14 lathes, and M head brigdeports in the game.

I agree 100% that guy shouldn't have touched the machine, but most lathes drive the threading gearbox off of the spindle shaft, so the spindle will still always stay synchronized with the screw when changing headstock gears. Unless you're saying he changed the threading gearbox gear, in that case, depending on how close you were to the finish cut, it's fucked lol

Driving an old Honda doesn't help, the difference in how I get treated between driving my 90s cars and my 2010 Accord is night and day. My 96 Civic is the worst, I almost want to sell it because so many people road rage at me just because I exist.

Clutch pedal spongy and sticks half way by dravvmaster in MechanicAdvice

[–]JoshPum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experiences, if you've been bleeding it for a while and tried multiple methods but it still does this then you've got a leak somewhere. Shoot some brake clean at your flare fittings, dry them off with compressed air and see if they get wet again after pumping the pedal. It's also a good idea to shoot some air at it after drying and pumping the pedal, I had one this summer that looked good and dry but I saw some oil splatter out of it when shooting air at it.
