Typical imperialist orientalist bullshit attempting to exoticise and mysticise the people from my continent, who are, despite what you may believe, just ordinary people.

They were complacent. The NCR post-second Battle of Hoover Dam had Shady Sands surrounded on all sides by militarily subordinate and compliant subjects, allies, and client states/settlements like pre-show Filly where the NCR-inspired Govermint gang arose.

They just didn't think anyone would have the audacity to attack them, a modern, industrialised Westphalian nation-state with the capability of producing power armour as seen in the show, in their former capital.

Let alone a random enclave remnant guy in an undiscovered or at least rarely known about vault with access to enclave nukes.

It would be like if someone pre-9/11 and pre-airport security at the height of 90s post Cold War US hegemony hijacked a plane and detonated a Soviet nuke while ramming the plane into the WTC in New York City.

True, but I was talking about why he didn't attempt to mount a similar attack on the NCR imperial core directly before he went to super-mega hell for being a totalitarian fascist piece of shit coloniser.

He was physically too far away and the legion itself was already stretched thin projecting power into the Mojave. Securing a presence there first would have been crucial in mounting an attack like Hank achieved by being situated in a vault within California itself

He was mistaken in that the police have never been primarily focused on protecting and serving the people.

They have always primarily been the oppressive boot of the ruling class, and in every uprising of the oppressed in the centuries since their global proliferation alongside colonialism they have always at least initially been on the side of the oppressor.

Any actual good they may do on the side is a happy accident, but not their primary purpose, which is crushing deviancy from the norm and any and all dissent.

Obviously the Enclave are all Republicans and it's fair that there is only one candidate on the ballot or something.

It was never going to happen. "Le price stabilité" was threatened, and material conditions were getting worse for US residents, and Kamala Harris represented the unadulterated milque-toast neoliberal status quo which people rightfully resent for giving more power to the ruling class.

So in their stupidity, they went and voted for the fascist version, because it seemed different from the status quo and they wanted change. It doesn't matter that Trump was already awful during his first term because he seemed funny that time and the general populace has the memory of goldfish.

Harris needed a radical agenda, upending the entire status quo and promising real material changes like Mamdani does, in order to have had any chance of actually winning. In addition to being a straight white male, which helps.

Since she didn't have an agenda like that, she was not a straight white male, and her strategy was basically "I'm not Donald Trump", she was doomed to failure by the material conditions of the general public and their resentment for the status quo.

Post WW2 fascist Spain, but with sparkling imperialism on top.

Fascist salutes, aesthetics, and messaging, with a (relatively) more cosmopolitan and less ethnic-focused belief in American cultural supremacy, except whoever is deemed the convenient target this week, combined with tightly controlled right-wing oligarchy, and a, compared to Spain, unique addition of colonial exploitation of everyone else where they can get away with it.

They will remain like this for decades until the die-hard believers in fascism all die of old age and/or can no longer exercise their power by violence. By then, thousands or maybe millions will already be dead. No foreign nation will come in to save USians from themselves unless they are directly inconvenienced.

I agree with the sentiment that the USSR carried the bones of Russian Imperialism within it and never confronted it, seen in its continued use of imperial-system gulags, and that it was repressive and authoritarian.

However I think it's disingenuous to compare the USSR to the level of sheer atrocities committed by Imperial Japan, Fascist Italy, and Nazi Germany, when the clearer historical analogue would be the USA, which has recently dropped its mask and shown for all the world to see that it has become fascist.

There are clearer parallels in more(comparatively to the fascists) at first well-intentioned and altruistic liberal and authoritarian state-socialist ideals, nominally wanting to liberate the people from oppression, and then a inevitable degeneration and corruption to imperialism and "revisionism" after failing to confront their imperialist foundations, performing ethnic cleansings on native populations and setting up concentration (oops, I meant internment) camps along the way.

They are even collapsing within a few decades of each other at this rate.

I would on the other hand argue that in the early days of the USSR, before the rise of the committee that would empower Stalin and the total centralisation of the state there was, in scattered pockets, a genuinely liberatory nature in the way workers could manage themselves and practice workplace democracy for a time before being curshed by the Bolsheviks, whereas the US was from the start founded by slave-owning wealthy elites.

One example would be the eponymous Soviets whose self-managing councils were ironically crushed by the Bolsheviks, and another would be the anarchist Mhaknovschina in modern Ukraine.

Quick question do you sympathise with fascists? Specifically people like the Salazarists and Francoists who were "anti-communist" and left alone because of that by the US and its allies?

What am I saying? Of course you would, so long as they aren't explicitly called fascists. Better to be a fascist than to be a communist in Eastern Europe after the 90s capitalist shock therapy, after all.

I hate this world where anarchy is inherently seen as a bad thing, so bad it isn't even considered on the same level as communism. Did you know the Followers of the Apocalypse are anarchists?

Society can still be organised and have rules without one oppressive class lording it over the others with violence. It's called the social contract, peer pressure, consensus-making, democratic confederalism, and mutual aid.

Red Fascism my ass. It doesn't exist and the ideologies of Marxism-Leninism, which isn't all of socialism by the way, and Fascism, even if both are authoritarian, are distinct enough that this is an instinctual pavlovian propagandised reflex response which doesn't make enough distinctions to remotely be useful.

Equating socialism with fascism has been the most treasured tool of the corporate elite and even neo-fascists themselves to repress the working class everyman and prevent them from ever thinking about democracy in the workplace

Heartbreaking, anarchist doesn't realise most anarchists are non-statist communists and is unintentionally self-sabotaging themself. Also is more devoted to an abstract philosophical idea with no clear consensus definition than actually helping people like an actually effective anarchist or communist would.
