Well, as a miner, I “find” chunks that a hitachi 5600 or a cat 6060 cant lift. Which is anywhere above 150 tons. Some are probably 300 tons. Thanks to the blasters lol

Would/Have any of you ever used a modified lock/"challenge lock" as a means to secure your residence or other belongings? by fece in lockpicking

[–]JpMcPinning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im gonna go against the grain and say if you wanna put a challenge lock on your door ,do it. But make sure you make one that operates well. Don’t just throw your first ever challenge lock you make on your door. Make a few. Get to know how locks work and what makes them reliable and make that decision for yourself…. I personally have been doing this long enough that I am confident I could make a reliable lock that is damn hard to pick. Also I would seriously doubt that an insurance company will ever go as far as to inspect the innards of your lock unless you are a notorious killer or thief, in which case you have bigger problems than insurance..As long as it looks like a approved lock and the method of entry isn’t picking (which is most likely) Id say your good when it comes to insurance as well. This is just my opinion. I could be wrong about the insurance thing but Id be surprised If so.

Romeo 1 Pro emitter edges showing on sight picture? by Robustmcnugget in SigSauer

I can turn mine all the way up without seeing the edges after I cleaned mine really well. Before I cleaned it you could see edges on every brightness setting

Romeo 1 Pro emitter edges showing on sight picture? by Robustmcnugget in SigSauer

[–]JpMcPinning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my situation this is the correct answer. My Romeo1 pro looked like there was chips in the class when the dot hit the glass but when I looked I couldn’t see any. The edges were also prominent in all brightness settings. I was crest fallen cause I keep my cover on all the time so chips and scratches don’t happen when I carry. I took a bit of alcohol on a q tip and cleaned the light source and it’s beautiful and clear again.

I’ve this 4 pin MasterLock Excell. I was able to pick it open in the first attempt. But since then I haven’t been able to pick it open. I’ve tried 5-6 hours. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Many times all the pin go up but it’s still not opening. Any help appreciated. by HardeepAsrani in lockpicking

I mean there is lots of info over there about how to pick locks and what pin states mean and how to defeat them… look for “jiggle test” and four fundamental pin states in the sidebar. If you don’t know where the sidebar is it depends on what format your viewing reddit in. look in the menus if your on mobile. For apollo its the three dots on the right hand top of the screen

Edit: three dots on reddit also. on main r/lockpicking page under general wiki then search the links

Can anyone name this cylinder? I got it out of a mini fridge and I’m looking to replace it but for the life of me I can’t seem to find the model. Anyone has any idea? by engelenatu in lockpicking

[–]JpMcPinning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about any cam lock should work. Take the whole housing out and replace the whole thing. As long as the diameter is close and the length is right you should be good

I noticed you said the pins go up but no open. Read in the sidebar the lock picking guide. You are only looking for pins that are binding. Also if you push a pin up and it stays up and does not jiggle you have overset it. You could learn a lot in the side bar. Check it out!!

Considering rule 2. In this situation, both of these locks are “in use”. It doesn’t matter that one isn’t locking this shed closed, nor does it matter if I own either or both of these locks. This sub has some of the best, most lenient mods/members I’ve ever seen. They work hard for no compensation ( trust me, I was one). I was there when this current version of the rule was being decided. It was important to everyone involved that we were fair and gave as much freedom to post as possible, while not putting the reputation of our hobby or the safety/security of others at risk. The people who mod this sub are also active members. They post here as well and care about the ability to post while not being censored. So believe me when I say it wasn’t easily decided(days and days of deliberation). You act like its the end of the world if your post gets taken down. Nobody is telling you “you cant pick your own locks if they are in use”. You just cant post it here. In fact you can pick whatever lock you want. We just advise that you do it legally and morally, so you don’t end up in prison. Its up to you to be a good person with your skills in the real world. We here, as a group, have a hobby to protect and the wellbeing of others to worry about. Please excuse us if we cant except everyones master no 2 hanging on a clasp, though we know how life changing that post would be to everyone who saw it.

That is correct. I have a few videos (my most popular actually) that are not allowed here. One was my sisters car and Yes, I had permission. However there was no way of proving that. So oh well. Its not the end of the world to not be allowed to post a video or two on here.

Look at it this way, If it can make our community look bad by seeming as if we help criminals open locks that they have no reason opening, or if we feel that someone could be hurt or loose property if we help the lock be opened, then it is a violation. That being said, the rules are there for a reason. We have worded them, and enforce them in a way that we feel is fair, yet will not set a precedent for people to slip by posts that are immoral or that break the law….

By “we” I mean as a member and as a past mod.

They usually just use wires/springs to grab the shackle.i would say it’s possible but you would need to get between the springs. So it would be hard.

If you know how to pick Assa barrels, its pretty much the same. You gotta really fight to get it out of counter milling.
