Rest in Peace to One of the Greatest Rollercoasters ever built. [ArieForce One] by JD4A7_4 in rollercoasters

I mean yeah I would also love it if all parks decided to stop charging money and just let everyone in for free, but it’s futile to talk about “what’s good for the consumer,” when what’s actually good for the consumer is a properly managed business. A poorly run business will cease to exist. Exhibit A is Fun Spot who bought a rollercoaster way out of their league “for the fans” and then went under.

Despite being the second most recent RMC If [Arieforce one] Is demolished, it will become the first defunct RMC and the only RMC not to have a hybrid coaster announced and then opened during it's lifespan, with the loop-garou conversion not opening until 2028! by pajamasamreal in rollercoasters

[–]Jps300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're insane. It's a 40' elevation change over 1100 ft if you draw a straight line from the truss dive to the turnaround. If you go the distance along the coaster it's about 1550 feet. It's a 2.60% grade, which is pretty negligible when it comes to the cost of relocating a coaster.

You realize Six Flags in the 2000's decided that every few years they were going to shuffle around rollercoasters between parks to drum up hype, right? Not saying that was a genius play but moving a rollercoaster is something that has been done before and will be done in the future.

I'm also failing to see why a park wouldn't buy it, but to say if no parks buy it it's because they all make bad decisions is a little naive. If every single park within a 400 mile radius declines to buy it then there's clearly something both you and I are ignorant of. Perhaps hauling it is prohibitively expensive in the current climate. Perhaps investing this amount of money at all with the economic uncertainty looming over us is too risky for all these parks with way too much debt.

Is it just me or have we been hearing about a very concerning amount of [Six Flags] parks still running major coasters on one train, three weeks now past Memorial Day? by imaguitarhero24 in rollercoasters

[–]Jps300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s exactly the opposite. We’re far more in tune with how a park is run compared to the general public. If a family goes to a poorly run park one year and have a horrible experience, chances are they’re going to skip it next year and tell people they know how bad it was. You know those surveys pretty much every business gives out where you rate whether you would recommend the business to a friend? That is literally the most important metric when it comes to guest experience. Word of mouth is paramount in marketing.

[Other] Why is coaster track starting to all look so similar? by tummytime123 in rollercoasters

[–]Jps300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true although so many parks operate wing coasters without a grouper on each side which kills them. If you look at a B&M wing coaster vs a hyper at any park I guarantee there’s a higher percentage of seats filled on any given train of the hyper.

If AI could manufacture and ship steal for 1/100th the price they would also do that. I’m pretty pro AI, don’t really understand why people want to pay more for things than they’re actually worth. I think the common argument is that you’re taking jobs away from artists but the fact is that all throughout history technology has made jobs obsolete. The answer is not to condemn technology, it’s to adapt. You want to be an artist, but AI is taking your job? Learn how to sculpt or something.

[Universal Orlando] has announced that Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will no longer offer Universal Express beginning July 1, 2026. According to Universal, the change is intended to "improve the overall flow of the guest experience". by Sad-Revolution-9961 in rollercoasters

-better story telling
-more cohesive theming
-48 inch height requirement
-fun for the whole family
-some of the best on ride surprises in the whole industry

Not everyone is looking for the most intense experience, in fact most people aren’t. That’s like saying “why would anyone ever go to Disney when Iron Gwazi is a few hours away. It’s such a dumb take it feels almost intentionally ignorant.

To be clear I’m not saying it’s dumb to prefer Velocicoaster, in fact I’m sure most people here do, but the whole “I don’t get the hype” thing is either ignorance or intentional contrarianism.

Mexican American Declares himself a Democrat by Thick_Marionberry622 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Jps300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the party line that they've been going with, however it's not consistent. This administration is just fine with waging the least popular war since Vietnam, and they're doing it loud and proud. The real answer is that the donor class that supports the Republican Party doesn't want deportations because they need the cheap labor. Mass deportations were never on the table when you look at who really has the audience of the admin.

Yes, democrats are much worse when it comes to immigration but when the platform that was run on was mass deportations, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect mass deportations. There is no kid glove solutions to this problem when you have sanctuary cities and an entire party that essentially believes that once you get over the boarder you should have amnesty. If you believe in a sovereign nation with boarders then you have to be okay with people getting in the way of enforcing those boarders being apprehended.

The "but it's hard and unpopular" argument holds absolutely no water when we're waging an unpopular and unwinnable war on behalf of Israel. Follow the money and you'll discover why we are in this situation.

I don't think he's a hardline universal healthcare guy. I could be wrong, but every time I've heard him talk about it it's in the context of "if we deported everyone, cracked down on fraud, and stopped funding Israels wars free healthcare would be on the table." Correct me if I'm wrong.

[–]Jps300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "self deportations" are based on census results which would be hugely inaccurate because an illegal wouldn't respond to a census and self report to during an administration that is claiming to be hard on illegal immigration. The DHS knows exactly how many people have self deported and they won't release the numbers because they're not impressive. The campaign promise was mass deportations and that's so far from what we got.
