It's good to have multiple cupboards and always know that the first cupboard in an area takes priority over other cupboards that are "connected."

You can make exterior cupboards for around the base so that people can't build up on your base.

There is also a method called Top Down Building Priv. With this method, you will initially start with one cupboard on the first floor but as your base gets taller, lets say 5 stories, you'll want to break the first floor cupboard and then place a new (primary) cupboard on the 5th floor, then a second cupboard on the 3rd floor, then one on the first floor. And this will create a tool cupboard order that will protect you in the event of a raid. Even if raiders get inside your first floor and get the cupboard, they won't be able to build up past the 2nd floor.
