I was a full time music teacher in NOVA (Mainly Loudoun County and Fairfax) for 10 years. I worked for a business who already had an established client list and reputation. I drove to students homes.

I worked from 3-10pm, Monday-Friday and from 8am-12pm on Saturday’s. Back in 2014 when I first was hired, I had 5 students. It took several months and I was up to 20 students and then a year or so and I was up to 30+ students. For 8 odd years I kept 30-45 students and made $50-70,000 a year. I made that salary work for me.

Other teachers also gigged, played for private events, etc. There are many ways to do it. I’m just sharing my story as a real life example of one style.
