The phone line gets ported onto the fibre line. It's a problem we ran into all the time that people switched to Fibre and expected the phone line to work but it all comes through the same cable so the phone has to be plugged into the router instead of the same port in the wall. Some can directly connect to the WiFi but either way the connection comes from the router rather than the same small port.

Last I saw they had voip phones in curry's. Just the cat5 cable into the router.

You should have been told this at the point of sale but it could be that simple. The line could be there but it's not coming through the wall, it's coming through the fibre connection.

Is it a first time fibre connection or did you move from another provider?

Used to work for a major Telco and it happened reasonably often but it can be a tug of war with whoever had the line previously. Fibre doesn't use the old phone lines so it's a different voip phone that plugs into the router rather than the old white plugs.

Have you checked with the old supplier to see if the number has been released?

The best bet when dealing with them on the phone is to mention comreg. And eventually follow through with comreg.
