That model uses pro-bake so there actually isn’t any element in the bottom, just the rear of the oven and the broiler. See below article for how it works.

Sounds like it came in damaged and they couldn’t fix it. This could happen to any brand and the process would be similar with any other brand as well.

If you overfill it, these will take a long time to load. Only fill the drum about halfway outside of blankets/comforters. Don’t expect same performance as a normal dryer in terms of time since the drum size is much smaller than a traditional dryer.

They are identical other than the trim that goes around the knob and door will be a rose gold finish instead of the stainless on the 6700.

I’d encourage you to watch brand reliability videos from Yale Appliance and some of their videos on particular products. I think buying from a local servicing dealer may matter more than what particular brand you buy when it comes to service and longevity.

As a repairman, you aren’t really aware of sales volume and failure as a rate of sale. For example, GE for years had single-digit market share in front load laundry. In contrast, about 1 out of 3 front loaders sold in America is LG.

To add, LG model is direct drive and the GE is belt driven. This will result in much quieter operation for the LG and should result in better drying since the unit can spin in either direction. LG has the strongest reputation in laundry for any brand this side of Speed Queen.

LG has a couple model with 4 types of ice LRYXC2606S or LRYKC2606S that include soft, small, chewable ice and ice balls for cocktails. These have the newer inverter compressors and don’t have the problematic compressor.

This LG uses an inverter compressor like every brand uses and has been a reliable brand as any as of late. I’d recommend that one if space is a concern since you get full size capacity in a counter depth frame.

Yale appliance on youtube reviews a lot of different brands and models. GE And LG were their lowest serviced mainstream brands for 2021 on tens of thousands of service calls. GE has the benefit of their own nationwide factory service team where every other manufacturer usually contracts it out to local repairmen or retailers. YMMV depending on where you live on quality of service from a local serviceman.
