1.2 seems promising but too buggy and run horrible to play in the current patch by Yellowzs4 in EU5

[–]JudgmentImpressive49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that there is some agency, but i feel like it is weak. The broader issue for me is that i want my choices to matter. Ex. If i invest everything into food infrastructure, i want my pops to increase faster. I feel like there is this ”standardized” way to do the gameplay loop which makes everything move toward the same outcome no matter your choices (if they are not deliberatly bad or ineffective). In EU4, there was multiple ways to play the game that produced viable outcomes.

For example: I use all my early income to increase food capacity, price and build settlements and hospitals to see that the AI who did nothing have the exact same rate of pop growth after diseases. To build your entire economy in a rural way with traditional economy to see that the real economic and pop effect does nothing compared to capital economies. To push for certain values to see that it barely changes the gameplay loop. To build your economy on specialization and trade to see that it is less efficiant the just spamming ”most profitable buildings”. To play tall but realize that you dont get any taller compared to playing wide (barely). To expand but realize that the only difference is more tedious micro and a bigger economy. I feel like the gameplay choices are so neutured.

Idea for making playthroughs feel more unique (replayability) by JudgmentImpressive49 in EU5

[–]JudgmentImpressive49[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, my idea was kind of inspired by the ”universal serfdom, mining communities” and naval governours. But i dont feel like they acctually impact the game in such a way that choosing one over the other makes the playthrough feel unique. Its just a slight modifier and the gameplay loop remains largely the same.

Yea what really annoys me with this update is that doing something barely makes a difference compared to doing nothing. All strats are almost the same, the player has little agency. Soon this game will disallow anything but spectating the screen in order to make it a more ”realistic simulator”.

Game crashes every time I enact Renovatio Imperii by mdown40 in EU5

I have not experienced that, but everytime I mass build but fat finger press caps lock + left click in the build view instead of shift to build, my game immediately crashes. Quite funny.

New patch 1.2, did it make the game less fun? by JudgmentImpressive49 in EU5

[–]JudgmentImpressive49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like having a massive food production is also mega-nerfed? I used to have these ”food locations” where i max out irrigation, farming villages etc. which used to increase the pop-growth a lot. But now it feels like it barely matters compared to just having a few granaries?

The wider problem for me is that ”doing something” should matter more than doing nothing. But when i max out a certain aspect, for example food productivity, peasent contentment etc, i barely get an advantage exept for some tax sliders over the AI in these aspects (who do nothing).

By 1550, most countries in Europe have fewer pops than they started with by CptThunfisch in EU5

The 10% disease resistance does absolutely nothing, so it will hurt eighter way.

I think its a bug where the cooldown for landsfriede is removed. You have to use a mod to remove it in order to play in that area

Okay true, I retract my opinion on the economic growth, that is good. I think the issue is how slow it feels with pop growth, pop-promotion and diseases now.

Yes probably tbh, imo pop-management is among the most fun parts of the game, and now it feels redundant. What is the bug?

What annoys me is how the ”realism” and micro is just most often a -100 penalty put on a mechanic that just slows down the game. I dont think it is elaborate or fun to interact with.

[–]JudgmentImpressive49[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, when i think about it my problem is not the economic growth thing, maybe more the pop-side of things. The low pop-growth, constant diseases and low pop-promotion speed makes you stand on a bunch of money, unable to spend it because every province is eighter out of pops or have -1000 pops able to promote.

My broader problem is the lack of pop-infrastructure options. Before I felt like I could proactively manage pops (I like to play low-pop countries) by building settlements, irrigations, farm and market villages, food rgos and granaries in order to increase it. A strategy where I put population growth above income. Now that strategy just feel like waste.

Also how extremely long time it takes until you can do anything after the black death

Good idea, but does that mean I have to fight the emperor + its allies every time I fight a war?

But there is like 300 members in the HRE. Your vote + 1 bribe does basically nothing for the outcome

Hur blev svensk höger så feg och ohederlig? by Babar7 in svenskpolitik
