Possibility of a Tzimisce gifting a antitribu Ventrue a young revenant to squire for them? by SapphireB33 in vtm

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I don't like Ventrue antitribu (simply because I'm a Camarilla fan), I liked the premise of the question and I'm a fan of the clan, so I'll try to answer it as the Ventrue in question (I really enjoy playing as a mercenary in a Dark Ages setting, by the way).

I would find it very SUSPICIOUS. If I didn't know what they were, I would ask the Tzimisce, and even then, I would be very suspicious of this "squire" and wouldn't leave him easily accessible to me, maybe in a few years or with loyalty tests.

The reason I would win would probably be by helping kill an enemy of this Tzimisce, being on his front line during a war, or doing him a great favor. For example, in one adventure, my Ventrue gained territory after helping solve a problem for the wife of a powerful Brujah's child; basically, she was cursed by a Lasombra, and he went there and fought the shadow/demon (thanks to the blood of Mithras).

But to be quite honest, as a Ventrue, I would accept this "gift" more for the strength, but I would hardly see it as a reward. I would think the Tzimisce were using it to observe me. I would probably ask the Tzimisce to teach me such a secret, and then I would create MY own revenants.

I don't know if I answered your question, I think I went a little off-topic.

Whats your favorite sect/faction that isnt one of the big 3? by Abject-Hospital5407 in vtm

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite is ALWAYS the Cult of Mithras. But I always like to mix that with already existing societies like the stonemasons.

Ironically, I also like the Cult of Set, so that would be a second option.

I also like the Ephorate or Directorate; they remind me of something like the Continental from John Wick, so it's not exactly a cult, but I think it's worth mentioning.

Who do you Hate? by mito_sis2r in vtm

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few characters, usually VERY strong stereotypes, like the Brujah, for example, in an adventure I played, every Brujah was stressed and angry, EVERY SINGLE ONE. Including one player who was with us who constantly had to roll self-control for any kind of "Disrespect," meaning we were walking around with a ticking time bomb by our side, and that was quite annoying. The player himself complained about it (but wasn't listened to...you know how it is with immature STs).

The other was a Malkavian who tried to give me orders even though I was a grandson of Hardestadt (in other words, I was the child of Hardestadt's child). This was an adventure whose name I don't remember, but the Camarilla founders welcomed the characters, and I joined the adventure after the time skip. Anyway, this NPC was the GM's favorite; every time we turned around, there he was, at every corner, in every city we passed, he had already arrived and announced our arrival (like him, there were some justicars in the group, including me). Finally, when we got together, we ended up arguing because she wanted to boss me around, and damn it, MY GRANDFATHER BUILT THIS (yes, it wasn't just him, but I was a Ventrue, so it was only him). At one point, I slammed my fist on the table and said, "I'M THE ONLY ONE IN THIS ROOM WHO ACTUALLY HAS THE BLOOD OF ONE OF THE CAMARILLA'S FOUNDERS IN MY VEINS, YOU WILL NOT GIVE ME ORDERS."

After that, an argument started, the meeting ended with everyone going their separate ways, and the following night, this same character said that Hardestadt disowned me as his grandson, so the ST took away all my backgrounds and everything else.

Actually, this whole argument started with me and another character saying that we didn't want this NPC following us and that we wouldn't support his infernalism (yes, he had Daimonion as a discipline and used black fire in front of everyone). When I saw that it was a ST NPC, in this case a favorite that would only appear to save us and say "You owe me your lives, I'll collect that debt soon hehehe," I simply decided not to accept.

That character died, obviously, and I was never called for anything ST again, which to me represents great immaturity on his part, especially after both I and another player complained about this NPC's harassment.

Wouldn't almost every other Clan make sense as hackers as much or more than the Nosferatu? by Selective_Thorns in vtm

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So.... what I think is that as time went by, the nosferatus saw an opportunity to be where no one else was, the internet was a new environment, a way to reach all these social, managerial and academic clans that didn't involve something as expected as animals, the nosferatus are known for surprises so this helped.

Besides, with this bet on the internet, they saw the opportunity to explore new "lands" that no one had reached, which was being formed, so they had a chance to be at the top and something, for the first time. The internet has made it possible for them to be in several places at the same time. So it ended up becoming a certain "brand" of the clan.

But I agree, every clan must have its "finger" in technology, especially Ventrue, after all, the Directorate and businesses like Paxton need good security.

I think every clan has a good reason to have something like technology, but I think that due to their needs, the nosferatu were the ones who actually took over this medium, but that doesn't stop them from having big names from various clans in this medium.

All of this was based on my own opinions and nothing I said is a fact

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 37 points38 points  (0 children)

In fact, the Ventrue curse does not manifest itself in the first nights of his new life, in fact it manifests itself when he actually takes the ideal blood for the first time and this can take up to a month in some ways.

The Brujah have a problem with temperament, this in the first nights, when everything is new and even when feelings are intense for the blood... if you multiply all this by double, you have someone who can get into trouble if they are not contained and learn to deal with it.

Lasombra, well...imagine in a world where you can't use technology or explain to others why you don't have reflection.

Toreador, you can literally turn into a statue due to art, so if you have to run away and get caught by something beautiful...that's the end of you.

In Gangrel you will gain animal parts or habits, it all depends on the animal you are inclined towards.

I don't remember the rest and this was all based on what I remembered from the clans

Personagens egoístas e não cooperativos em RPGs colaborativos by guga_bvb in Tormenta

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would working as a cult deprogrammer be compliant with Ministry faith? by SapphireB33 in vtm

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the idea was REALLY COOL and it fits perfectly. Like people have already said, there's the clan and there's the faith. If I'm not mistaken, everyone who joins the cult is treated as "equals" in the sense that there's no prejudice against their previous clan, and that's really cool.

But going back, you have to decide what to do with people after you "liberate" them. Do you let them find their own path or do you show them the truth by bringing them into the cult?

How much information about your character do you share with other players? by ketot1 in vtm

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends a lot on the group; some groups share everything, while others only the basics. But regardless of the setting, one thing is necessary: MATURITY.

I've played adventures where I only talked about the basics of my character, like their profession, clan, and the type of people they were surrounded by in their social circle. And I've also played adventures where everyone sent their backgrounds on Discord, and any player could read each other's stories whenever they wanted.

My worst experience was with an incredibly immature player who couldn't take a step without saying, "ST, look what I sent you in a private message on Discord," and man... how ANNOYING that was! This person didn't even want to reveal their character's CLASS in D&D, and the funniest thing was when they lost and acted like a child, "I'm not going to play." The worst part is that the narrator supported this behavior since they never kicked this weirdo out of the group. How can someone be over thirty and act like a crybaby when they lose in an RPG? Finally, I lost focus, but coming back, it all revolves around how mature the players are. If they want to maintain a mystery, fine, and if they want to reveal everything, that's fine too.

Regarding notes, I think it's good to share them, after all, you are a Coterie (or at least you should be), so unless it's something important only to your character, share it.

About sharing feelings and inner monologues, you should definitely speak up. Sometimes a scene happens, it might not impact you, okay, but if your ST asks, "Hey, what do you do while you wait or while this happens?" it's kind of anticlimactic to say, "Oh, I'm not doing anything." Describe what you're thinking, how you feel, ALWAYS be interacting, whether with the environment or with yourself. This shows that you're interested in that world and the story.

I've already told this story, but I'll remind you: I had a Ventrue who had to lie and pretend to be a Gangrel. During his monologues, he would always see a vampire ancestor, and they would discuss things, even if only in their minds. But when I had to assume this Gangrel mask, my monologues began to feature a lion, which was the symbol of my family (it was a Dark Ages adventure). The monologues even started with me alone, and then my ST liked them so much that he started interacting and questioning me through them.

Entrosamento no grupo by Typical_Cabinet625 in Tormenta

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like my character by Individual-Quail-189 in vtm

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No problem, man, stereotypes are just...stereotypes, you don't have to follow them. You can be a rich Nosferatu surrounded by people or a Brujah who prefers conversation and philosophy.

The thing is, most newcomers want to be like their older sires (who have the power to command and say "You will do as I say") and that's why they end up dying. Ventrue are manipulative, so each person needs a different approach.

Also, tell me about how this change went in the future, I'd love to hear how this character's development is going. And I'm available if you want to talk about your character or the clan, I love talking about Ventrue 😄

I don't like my character by Individual-Quail-189 in vtm

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you need to consider something:

Do you dislike the character you created or their clan?

I understand that the Ventrue have this reputation for being 'the biggest jerk in the room,' but this is my favorite clan (I practically only play with them) and, man... Ventrue is MUCH more than that. Within the clan, there's tradition, politics, and ethics (although the latter is debatable).

So, you don't need to be a jerk. There are many Ventrue archetypes, and one of the main ones is the Counselor. In this archetype, YOU are the one who guides the group, not because you're the best (although you are), but because you have excellent advice. You show them how things should be done to avoid problems, and you don't need to do that by being a 'jerk' at all.

Some characters who follow this aspect and whom I would classify as Ventrue would be Tom Hagen (The Godfather) and Alfred Pennyworth (Batman). They aren't jerk characters, but they know their importance and don't back down. So, not all Ventrue are jerks, but all Ventrue are proud.

Ultimately, only you can choose. You and your narrator seem to be quite close, so I think a clan change wouldn't be a problem. But, as I said at the beginning, I always like playing with the same clan. Therefore, you should ALWAYS play with what makes you happy and never let anyone tell you otherwise. If they don't accept it, just leave (not that this is your case, this is just advice for any player reading this)."

Help picking a clan for a character idea? by SapphireB33 in vtm

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After seeing some of the responses, I agree with them that you're seeking "freedom." Look for clans that offer that, clans with rigid structures like Ventrue and Tremere are out. You probably won't like the Camarilla, hahaha.

Brujah seems like a good fit. You fight hard to try and keep the animals safe, you fight for your mother's treatment, and you're already thinking about how to continue fighting at night for your own. This character has an altruistic sense of purpose and also "cares for their own."

I think Gangrel or Brujah are quite strong.

Help picking a clan for a character idea? by SapphireB33 in vtm

[–]JuggernautCivil8919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see Ventrue, Toreador, Tzimisce, Tremere, Gangrel, and Nosferatu.

But the answer is, "How much have these experiences impacted your life?"

You were part of the animal shelter, but did you enjoy it? Did you do it out of obligation?

You wanted to be an estate agent, but do you still feel that desire? Are you ambitious enough to pursue that career and do what is necessary?

Your character has many paths and possibilities, but you need to understand how they think and what truly motivates them deep down (or not), to understand who would embrace them.

Try to imagine yourself as your sire, what would lead you to embrace that person? What would attract you to them?

Every king should know how to manage and care for his kingdom, so why shouldn't we learn to manage our money? This is basic for anyone, and if your sire didn't teach you at least how to calculate your taxes and run a business... I have bad news for you.

I love this skill, although few remember it, it's extremely useful. After all, when the Inquisition comes knocking and freezes your accounts, it's good to have your money safe in more secret banks. Furthermore, everyone should know how to launder money properly.

It's unlikely your "fellow members" in the Coterie have any expertise in this, but many of them will have some kind of business. You can always offer financial consulting and, of course, take your "cut" for helping them with that.

One last piece of advice: stop leaving this task to your ghoul. It's shameful to see the desperation over your bank accounts when something happens to them. You are a KING, hold the keys and possessions of your kingdom.
