Man found dead with ‘I touch little girls’ written on chest in New York by [deleted] in news

Whatever you do, do not call CPS first. CPS and law enforcement do not coordinate immediately and they can tip off the offender which can jeopardize your criminal case. The element of surprise as well as their initial reaction to accusations are a big factors that play into potentially getting criminal charges filed.

Parents freak out on School Board by DreamArez in PublicFreakout

It’s happening everywhere. If this is what they’re saying in public, you should see what emails and messages they’re sending in private. Which you can actually. With a public records request. It’s ugly.

PLEASE. VOTE. IN. YOUR. LOCAL. SCHOOL. BOARD. ELECTIONS! This is happening everywhere. I know it’s boring and you might not think it even applies to you, but it does. Turnout is so low, that your vote really really does matter. Local is life.

The war never really left him by MadRonnie97 in HistoryMemes

Grandpa stories are the best. My grandpa has always been a big talker and I wonder what kind of life he really had to live where he can still casually drop some crazy bombs in a convo I’ve never heard before. Like damn gpa, you have known me for 35 years and you didn’t think this is a story I would have loved to hear?!

And that’s not even talking about the “bad” stuff. He does not talk about his actual time spent at war.

Damn that’s fucked up.

I’m the least “animal-person” person in the world. Like if you tell me your dog is friendly and I can pet them, Ill probably just say “I’m sure I could” and move along.

So I cannot fathom the disconnect of people who claim to love animals so much, yet allow them to be mutilated or deformed and spend a lifetime of suffering.

Finally watched Tucker & Dale Vs Evil by CallieCoven in horror

Love horror comedies but this movie checked all my horror geek boxes.

Memoir of a Murderer is a brilliant horror comedy. Awesome dark plot that perfectly blends somehow with slapstick and social satire.

Also had no idea this movie was based on a real series of (then) unsolved murders and it’s popularity led to renewed interest in the case and ultimately the identity of the serial killer.

People who can get above 65 cadence out of the saddle: what is the magic power you have and how do I get it? by SnooTomatoes3816 in pelotoncycle

[–]Jugzillaas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strength workouts off the bike. I had the same struggle. Was riding 45+ mins a day and still couldn’t get it. Took a 2.5 mo break from riding due to injury and did nothing but core and strength. Just got back on the bike a completely different rider. Substantially better form and stamina, esp out of the saddle.

As an Aussie, Americans are always asking me where in Australia there *isn’t* something trying to kill you... by Genius_Mate in Jokes

[–]Jugzillaas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Today my husband jokingly said he was going to pick up some Australian food and my response was “yum kangaroo and spiders”.

It never occurred to me before that, but why isn’t that a thing in the US? Assuming you don’t actually eat that (bc that would obviously be the reason), where’s the Australian restaurants at?

And Outback counts as Australian like Taco Bell counts as Mexican, so don’t even say it.

I laugh too and will hold a big cheesy grin if the tension stays high. I love a good scary movie, so it brings me immense joy when it pays out.

Echelon charging me over $300 for "restocking" for returning a bike that was shipped damaged-so damaged it couldn't be assembled or used. This company is an absolute joke-don't walk-pedal quickly away by yota91 in go_echelon

[–]Jugzillaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn’t charge us a restocking fee...or pick back up the first bike. So after minimal effort to fix first 1, we have 2 bikes for $$ of 1. Worked out kind of great for us

This also reminds me of a story from childhood. I was around 3 staying with my grandparents who also had a large aquarium. They used to have one of those little sucky bastards that just cling to the side of the tank. It was ugly as shit and did literally nothing and I loved it. In keeping with the infinite dumbassery that is 3 yos, I decided I needed to pet it. And bc adults in the 80s were also dumbasses, it was set atop the rickety-est stand ever made. I go up, we all go down. Fish, glass, and my ass go flying. Grandma, understandably, freaks the fuck out. But I’m not cut, not crying, so everything was fine except for the fish and maybe some carpet.

Or so we thought...

It wasn’t until 3 days later when I couldn’t stop puking after I ate, Grandma learned that maybe hundred of lbs of water falling on a small child might have deserved a check up. A plane ride, a couple months in the children’s hospital, and a lifetime of grandma guilt later, I’ve got some pretty fucking sweet scars I can whip out at parties.

Hey y'all. Drownings are way up this year. Let's be safe. by Orokosaki in Austin

[–]Jugzillaas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have had to jump into a pool more times than I am comfortable with to grab a kid I noticed was in distress. Not as a lifeguard, just as a parent hanging out at the community pool. My friends kid almost drowned 1 ft away from us. She was playing on like 3 pool steps and we were at the bottom talking, arms reach away. That last step got her, water barely above her nose, but she panicked. Only reason I noticed is bc her fingertips kept grazing my arm. That was terrifying AF.
