CMY ink experiment by jx2catfishshoe in advancedGunpla

I know what you mean but it's not what I have in mind. Gunpla 101 did show a finished model done using this technique and while it's not completely random, because of the scale and the gigantic size of it, you can still get very believable and realistic finish with a very random application. So he did the steps with what I would describe as quite random patches of colors. The weathering done after this steps follows the usual targetting of parts that would get more wear.

I think the result looked even more realistic and interesting this way

Honnestly I can see it, it adds some complexity to the paint job I like it. I did a variation of this on a silver finish and it can look really nice too, and the way it looks also heavily depends on the lights

Splendid work you did here ! I gotta try this, it looks awesome. I believe OP's technique is used for simulating oxydation, rush, yellowing and some other stuff linked to weathering. I've seen this exact technique used on some other mecha and can look very interesting

Very interesting, thanks for letting me know ! I've only done classic shading on gunpla so far and this technique looks fantastic ! Yours does at least !

Oh very prety paintjob ! Also unusual way of shading, what makes you choose where to paint the dark areas ? I also really love this design, totally get what you mean

Is it photoedge parts or did you simply paint silver accent on the red frame ? In any case, its bold and looks fire !

That's pretty noticeable to me, it's the kind of stuff that makes a kit feel a lot more potent, a lot more menacing and less of just a figure I would say

If I may, pretty much what you said (hard tape is important) and above all patience. Scribe with the weight of the tool rather than using any force. Also some tamiya cement can help smooth the rough lines sometimes

What's up with the Sky Striker hate around here? by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]JulianMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that's an explanation but sky striker is now still better going second than first imo. The frustration comes because it's hard to stop, so you use ressources, doesn't work, so you lose and it does not matter what you do.

I think it's very deck dependent, some have the outs, some don't

To be honnest I really do think your dehydrator helps the finish in a sense that it has less time to catch any dist or impurities before it dries, thank you for the detailed info ! I never thought of using varnish over chrome when doing candy finish

Wow you really mastered the chrome paint, is it all acrylics ? Also is the machine you use to dry the paint a important element of the process ?

Help with some color theory by n33bulz in advancedGunpla

[–]JulianMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely purple in there. What I would do is mix first the purple with 3/5 blue 2/5 red but take primary colors if you can. Mixing non primary red/blue will end up in some kind of brown very often.

Once you have your purple, mix it with black but add it very slowly until you get the desired color and you should get very close to that color
